SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hello,
Our site was built using Shopify's Storefront API (https://terminal27.com/). We are having an issue with Google as it indexes our terminal-27.myshopify.com links instead of our terminal27.com links.
For example, when searching for this jacket on Google, Google provides this link:
https://terminal-27.myshopify.com/products/jt-08-edge
Instead of this link:
https://terminal27.com/products/jt-08-edge
Shopify support keeps telling me to add our terminal27.com URL to the approved domains on Shopify but we are unable to since our domain DNS records must point to Netlify which deployed our custom site. After a couple hours of searching, apparently there is a fix here if you go into Google Merchant Center and modify the feed rules to alter the root domain since the subdirectory is the same - but we're unsure how to go about this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Not sure exactly in your case. Normally the primary domain is set in Shopify, which ends up redirecting the myshopify.com version of the store to the primary domain. That is the best solution. You can also encourage further indexing of the correct domain by canonicalizing with the right sitemap from your main domain to Google Search Console and rel canonical.
