I have a question about Google Merchant Center. It's great that shopify has it set up to push our items there for us...but I can find no place to put gender, age range, color, etc, easily when setting up a new item or editing old items. All I've figured out is to pull up all of my items in google merchant portion of shopify and scroll through the 3500 items and add identifiers where I see a need. This is time consuming and tedious. Can it be entered somewhere when we are creating the item that google will pick up the info? The way it is now is double the work.

Jennifer, where in Shopify products are you adding gender etc?

- Are you adding these as tags? 

- Are you adding these as variants? 

The google sales channel integration actually mirrors exactly what you have in Shopify on to Google

Can you share the store URL and an item on your site that is not showing up properly on Google? I'm happy to help - I work at Google.

If I add them as tags will google pick them up for their fields?  If you click on google channel and items, gender and age range are categories that come up and are required on apparel. But when setting up the item in shopify there are no fields for that or color. The color is in my description and some titles but google channel isn't picking that up.

Variants is the right way to do this. Are you adding the variants in this place?

I understood what you're saying. There are some bulk tools to make this a bit easier in the Google portion of the sales channel. See this visual.

I haven't been pleased with it. To utilize the bulk feather, you have to scroll through all of your items or do one at a time. I don't understand why required fields can't be in item set up...which is my entire point. So now I have to create my item and then go into google channel and add other fields/more information.

The issue is simply that the free shopping app is a basic app. There are no advanced features.

If you want to have bulk setup or feed rules, you need to use a paid application.

Or if you can create rules such as if title contains women, set gender to female. This can be done in Google Merchant Center > Products > Feeds > click on your feed > feed rules.

Yes, my question is about the google merchant center and shopify google channel...not setting up variants.  Variations are for offering the customer choices for the items they're purchasing.

The problem with google merchant mirroring shopify is that there is no place in shopify to identify things that google requires (for apparel) such as gender, age range, and color. I can add them as tags but this is literally what my question is...will that fix the errors in google merchant saying that the items are missing this?

You are facing these kinds of issues because the google channel app does not have advanced features. And we also understand that creating feed rules in Merchant center can be very overwhelming.
