Google Merchant Center: How to set up a rule that queries title (is bundle)

Shopify does not have is bundle as an attribute in the API app.  I sell a good amount of bundles on my site.  These typically have the word "bundle" in the title.  So....  I was thinking there has to be a way in the rules to set "is bundle" as yes when "bundle" is in the title.

Can any feed gurus give me specific directions on how to set this up?

Hi @lintriago

How are you importing your GMC product feed? Through Shopify's Google Shopping sale channel, or are you using a different method?

If the bundles are created by the manufacturer, then do not use is_bundle

If the bundles are created by you, the reseller, then use is_bundle

You can use feed rules to do as followed. If title contains bundle sent is_bundle to yes

Thanks. Why can I not set bundled product from manufacturer to "yes"?  I am not really understanding why that is.   can you please explain?

You need to contact Google for the why question. In short, it's a policy requirement.

Okay, thanks... This is new to me.  I'd like to really understand and master the feed.  Do you know of any (free) online resource that goes into detail about how to maximize the feed?

Google Shopping is so large, there is no 1 article that covers it all. Have a look on my website, it has tons of info on the blog section.

I recommend you just keep on reading. I have been in the Google Shopping area for 8 years, still learning new things every month. It's pretty much a lifetime study.

Hi!

Did you find a way to add "is_bundle" to the product? since we don't have access to the field, I am not sure how to add this attribute.

Thanks!

If you data feed app does not have this.

Create rules explained here: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7450276?hl=en

Or add a supplement feed: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7439058?hl=en

oh! This is way too complicated! I thought we were able to add it without having to recreate the feed. I don't understand why this attribute is not an option in Shopify since so many people sell bundles!

Thanks anyway for taking the time to answer my question! I really appreciate it! 🙂

hi, have you been able to solve the problem? i struggle. Google rejects the bundles for me and I can't find a solution

The solution is to assign the value yes to all products that are a bundle and created by yourself as a retailer, not a manufacturer.

You can use feed rules to assign the value yes to is_bundle: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7450276?hl=en

You can use supplement feeds to assign yes to is_bundle : https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7439058?hl=en

Or if if you want to do it all in 1 app, use something like https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds

You still need to know what you are doing, so also read the bundle attribute:  https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6324449
