Hi, my site is www.neaterpets.com and our meta data on Google right now is some of our reviews and some image meta data. We have correct meta data entered into the Shopify portal. Does anyone have any idea why it is not showing up on Google?
Had a look at your top three site:domain results.
Used Screaming Frog to generate expected SERPs based on the raw title/meta tags. Then compared to actual SERPs.
Looked like this:
For the product URL (Zymtastic), it looks like Google is algorithmically generating it's own description. This is pretty normal, and happens roughly 2/3 of the time. Seems to happen more when Google algorithmically detects a mismatch between page content and provided meta desc.
The other two pages home/press seem to almost exactly match the title/metas being output.
Can you be specific what's not showing, where, and for which URLs?
Thank you for the reply. I was actually able to fix it after posting this by just asking Google to re-crawl the site. But still unsure as to how it happened in the first place as we had never changed our meta data on our end.
We are working on switching to a new theme and so we are building out the new theme on the backend. Could this have possibly led to the issue?
Ohh right so you had already fixed, just needed a recrawl - makes sense then!
Well if you're building the new theme in isolation and it's not live, then it shouldn't really have affected the live site. Bit tricky to pinpoint what possible causes are without getting hands on with something like this. Probably more useful just to move on, it's fixed and the cause isn't really a concern unless it becomes a pattern.
