Google Shipping Problem

Barcode isn’t valid.

I use an 8 digit barcode. My products are not approved I get the above error.

Where did you get them from? and what type of Barcodes are they - EAN's?. They all show as invalid on my barcode checker (but that's for EAN's)

My products do not have a barcode. I wrote them all myself. How can we make a barcode generator.

Ah - that's your problem then, you can't just make them up. It might be worth a Google search but as far as I am aware there is no way you can just create valid ones yourself, you need to buy them from an official supplier. The biggest supplier is https://www.gs1.org/ but you can buy them off eBay etc. Only word of warning is if you every want to sell on Amazon then they are really fussy about barcodes and often reject ones bought off eBay. GS1 is the safest route but they are expensive.

Other option of course is not to use barcodes at all. You can tell Google in your feed that these products don't have one and Google (and eBay) will let them through.

I'm having the same problem in this thread.  I used the barcode generator app and it created 8 digit barcodes.

8  of 80 products were approved ...... I cannot figure out how those are different than any others???

How do you tell Google in your feed that products don't have bardcodes to be able to utilize google shopping?

@21north  You need to add the 'identifier_exists' attribute to your feed and set it to FALSE.

@GracieG it's in the feed you are pushing into merchant centre.  If you're using a shopify app to do that then you should be able to set that in there.

Anyone have a screenshot on where to do this? I can't find it either. It's not an option on Shopify that i can see.  Thanks!

Ok I have found that you need to select Edit custom fields from Google sales channel then select > This is a custom product and then possibly add a Manufacturer Part no. that should work.

Google sales channel?  Are you referring to the Google app in Shopify, Google Merchant Center or Google Ads channel?

I had the same issue for one of our client.

If you are having custom made products, then you need to do the following:

1. Use Shopify App to generate barcode for all your products
2. Goto Sales Channel > Google > Under Products Status
3. Click on pending products
4. Select the products showing invalid barcode
   
   
   
5. Make the custom product field as " yes "

I can't find that either.. is it in the product listing page ? I am using regular shopify item listing page no apps.
