Google Smart Shopping- What Am I doing Wrong?

HI all,

Sorry if this is a stupid question but how do I get my Google Smart Shopping Campaigns to direct clicks from the display network to my landing page? Currently, when clicked, the ads just go to the actual product of the item clicked. I understand that's the whole point in shopping results but I thought the remarketing ads would go to my final URL which is my landing page?

Many thanks,

Pete

Smart Shopping enabled dynamic display ads. This means products are shown to the user based on the users historic behavior on your website.

By showing the same or similar products, allows you to increase the chances of a conversion by two fold.

The key to success in advertising is to shorten the distance between click and purchase.

If you always showed the final URL, you would get a lot less sales, compared to showing the product landing page.

If you don't want this.

Then use standard shopping.

And use tailored display ads with your own specifications.

@EmmanuelFlossie Thanks 🙂

Please bear with me as everything I've learned about Google Ads is self taught and a lot still confuses me!

The set-up I am trying to achieve is simply a shopping campaign with remarketing. I figured that if someone came to my site via a shopping campaign and didn't purchase, then a remarketing campaign that sends them to a landing page with an offer might help. I therefore want to create a remarketing campaign that takes people to my landing page. How would I make that happen? Previously I thought it was as simple as choosing the final URL! Obviously not.

You need to then use Standard Shopping.

And create a display campaign, not dynamic display.

However from years in this business (12+) you will quickly realize creating your own display ads for remarketing, will not be as effective as a dynamic remarketing campaign.

However, the only way to learn, if you prefer to learn this way, is to test, experiment, fail, try again, improve 🙂
