How can I automate anniversary emails with discounts?

I want to send my customers an automated email on the anniversary of the 1st date they ordered with us , so on 265 days after 1st order with a discount

Any ideas to how I can do this?

I think you mean 365 days. And yes, it's easy to do within Shopify.

- First, create an email using the Shopify Email app.

- Create the segmentation of your customers that fall within that category:

- Click customers on the left menu, then segmentation, create segment and write:
first_order_date = -1y OR first_order_date = -2y OR first_order_date = -3y OR first_order_date = -4y OR first_order_date = -5y OR first_order_date = -6y OR first_order_date = -7y OR first_order_date = -8y or first_order_date = -9y OR first_order_date = -10y then save the filter to something like "First Order Placed - Past 10 Years"

- Create an automation using the new segment

You can use up to 10 filters. Remove any additional filters.

If you would like to send this email every year on the day of a customer's first purchase, you can use this segment:

Alternatively, if you would only like to only send this email the first year after a customer's first purchase (not again for the 2+ year anniversaries), you can use this segment:

For the automation, you should use the "Customer joined segment" trigger and select the segment created above. In this case, I named the segment "Purchase anniversary".

One year after a customer made their first purchase, they will join the "Purchase anniversary" segment, which will trigger the automation and send the email.

The "Celebrate customer birthday" marketing automation template uses similar functionality to contact customers on their birthday.
