My store can't post 63 products to google because there aren't any GTIN's or MPN'S. Am i to just create these numbers? I've put in product identifiers per the google categories however after a day or so they are back to not being discoverable on google. Please advise.

Hi, @AlleyMcB.

Are you seeing a specific error message on your end, in regards to Google not approving or syncing your products due to missing GTIN or MPN?

Normally, products are flagged because Google is finding that they have a recognized GTIN available for the products, so these will need to be added for each product. This can show as a few different errors on the Google sales channel, but ultimately if the product identifier you've entered isn't correct or not filled out when they are required to be, Google will not publish the products.

Are you selling custom products, or do you order your products from a supplier or distributor? If you're selling custom products, the products won't be registered for a GTIN, so you'll need to go to Products > Click on a product > More actions > Google field > Tick the 'This is a custom product' box as seen below. Note that this box should be left unticked if your products are provided by a manufacturer or distributor, as they should have a valid GTIN or MPN.

Alternatively, you can also use the bulk editor by going to the Google channel > Product status > Manage availability and change the Custom product field to True, as seen on the image below. For products with a valid GTIN or MPN, make sure that this field is set to False instead.

The decision on whether the product is approved ultimately lies with Google. If you set your products as custom, but Google comes to the conclusion that they have seen instances of the products before, they will disapprove the products and ask you to enter a barcode for each of them. You can reach out to your product supplier and ask if they have barcode for you to enter on your end, and you can then verify the validity of the barcode by using the Barcode Lookup tool here.

Once you've made the necessary changes on your end, and if you'd like Google to manually review your products, you can request this via your Google Merchant Center Account as explained on this document.

And after you've successfully synced your products onto Google, feel free to take a look at the resources below so that you can maximise the Google sales channel to help you run ad campaigns and get your products on Google shopping for free!

First check the product packaging, if there are no barcodes, then remove brand and MPN values and set identifier exists to no. Even if you set it up correctly in the free google shopping app, it's bugged and does not correctly send data to Google.

Therefor, you need to remove the brand and mpn using feed rules, and set identifier exists to no.

Here is the official guide: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7450276?hl=en

Then after that reprocess the feed so that all products read the new rules. You can do this by editing all your products in shopify, or add a supplement feed with just the ids to refresh the rules.

If my suggestions are helpful to you, please let me know by giving a like or marking it as a solution.

Google Merchant Center product feed expects each product the appropriate unique product identifier values like GTIN, MPN, and Brand. If you don't have the values, then use the identifier exists [identifier_exists] attribute to indicate that unique product identifiers (UPIs) aren't available for your product.

identifier_exists tells Google that this product is missing identifiers, and this will prevent these products from being disapproved.

If these identifiers are not available, you have to set identifier_exists=No, otherwise set it to Yes.

You can use GMC feed rules to set the identifier_exists to "No".

When your customers search on Google, your product can be found only if Google has indexed the page. flareAI works every day for you, tapping into Google Search and 20+ of world's best & biggest free sales channels.
