To verify your website in Google Merchant Center, the easy way for a Shopify store is by adding the HTML tag to your homepage.

To add the meta tag to your Shopify store. Follow these steps:

1. Go to your GMC > Business information > Website > Claim Your Website and click on verify URL
2. Copy the meta tag given under "Add an HTML tag" section ( as you shown in the screenshot)
3. Log in to your Shopify admin
4. Navigate to Online Store > Themes.
5. Click the Actions dropdown, then choose Edit Code.
6. Edit the theme.liquid file and just below the <head> tag, add your copied meta tag (Step 2 above) given by GMC.

For example, after adding a meta tag to the theme.liquid will look like this:

<head>
<meta name="google-site-verification" content=".........." />
......
</head>

7. After adding the meta tag, Save theme.liquid file
8. Go back to GMC and click on "Verify website" button.

This will successfully verify your domain.

I would personally advise you to try the meta tag method whereby you add this code snippet to your theme's code as outlined by @flareAI here.

You can also find and submit your sitemap to Google as outlined here on our help site, to make it easier for Google to view and index pages on your store.
