How do I embed a video into an email?

2 0 1

I'm looking to embed a video into an email to send to my customers. What is the best way to do this? I think there is probably code I need to use but what is that code?

I tried using the embed codes from TikTok, Vimeo, and other sites.

Please help. Thanks

Hello @theboujeeeq,

Embedding a video directly into an email can be challenging as many email clients do not support embedded videos due to security and technical limitations. However, you can still include a video in your email by creating an image or GIF that links to the video on your Shopify store or a third-party platform. Here are some tips to do it.

1. Upload your video to a video hosting platform like YouTube, Adobe Spark. These platforms provide video players and the ability to generate shareable links or embed codes.

2. Once your video is uploaded, obtain a shareable link or URL from the video hosting platform. This link will redirect recipients to the video when they click on it.

3. Create an image or GIF that represents your video. You can use image editing tools like Canva or Adobe Photoshop to create a visually appealing graphic that entices recipients to click and watch the video.

4. In your email editor, insert the image or GIF you created. Make sure it's visually prominent and clearly indicates that it's a clickable element. You can add a play button overlay or other visual cues to indicate that it leads to a video.

5. Select the image or GIF in your email editor and link it to the shareable link you obtained from the video hosting platform. This link will redirect recipients to the video page when they click on the image or GIF.

By following these steps, you can create an interactive email experience where customers can click on the image or GIF to watch the video on your Shopify store or a third-party video hosting platform.

It's important to note that the success of video inclusion in emails may vary depending on the email client and recipient's settings. Some email clients may display the video thumbnail, while others may show only the image or GIF with a clickable link. Testing your emails across different email clients and devices can help ensure a consistent and optimal experience for your customers.
