Hey @PeteElite

Tira here to work with you on this.

Thanks for these screenshots. I haven’t seen these before in the Shopify admin. Did you take them from the Shopify admin, or from Facebook?

If you’re looking to add your Facebook Pixel to the Shopify admin, we have a help doc you can learn more from here: Facebook pixel. When you install the Facebook pixel on your store, it will help you track customer data and behaviour on your Online Store.

To make it easier for you, here are the steps to add the Facebook Pixel into your Shopify admin:

  • In your Shopify admin, click Facebook in the Sales channels section.
  • Click Settings, and then click Data sharing settings.
  • In the Customer data-sharing section, click the Enable data-sharing toggle.
  • In the Choose data-sharing level section select Standard, Enhanced, or Maximum.
  • Select your pixel from the list.
  • Click Confirm.

Our help doc lists these steps here: Add a Facebook pixel to your online store.

Since you’re looking into creating retargeting ads for your store, did you know that you can set that up with our Marketing tab right from your Shopify admin? Check out this help doc for the details: Creating Facebook dynamic retargeting ads in Shopify.

I would love to know if this is what you were looking to do.

I have my FB pixel set up already. And those screen shots are from FB.  I was doing what Ezra teaches in this course and since APPLE is changing the way FB can operate, FB making me do something that Ezra doesn't mention.

Thanks for the details and confirming where your screenshots are from, @PeteElite. I appreciate that.

That’s correct, Ezra doesn’t mention this in our Shopify Compass course as this is a relatively new update from what I can see. Here’s Facebook’s documentation with more details: How Apple’s iOS 14 Release May Affect Your Ads and Reporting. Is this what you are referring to?

I would love to know so I can research this further for you.

Thanks for clarifying, @PeteElite. I also appreciate the screenshot you’ve provided. It looks like this is from the Facebook Business Manager. Is that right?

I did some digging on this for you and this is what I've found: Apple users using devices running iOS 14 will need to opt-in to having their data shared between apps for the purpose of retargeting ads. This policy only applies to the collection and usage of data on iOS devices. Merchants can continue to collect data on their online store, but ad networks will likely be limited in how that data is used on iOS devices.

You might see an impact on the reach of your ad campaigns that run on iOS apps. We’re unable to predict the degree to which this policy update will impact ad performance. The impact will depend on how Facebook interprets these requirements, as well as the opt-in rate of users who consent to being tracked, within the apps the ad campaigns are running in.

You can reduce the impact of these policies by continuing to monitor the performance of your personalized/retargeted ads and adjust your budget as necessary.

Here’s a blog post that covers what you need to know about the iOS 14 update, how this would impact your business, and how you can adapt to Apple’s new privacy policy: Here’s What You Need to Know About the Upcoming iOS 14 Update.

We also have this Shopify Plus blog post that covers how advertising will be affected on social media channels like Facebook.

I would love to know if this helps!
