How Do I Prevent All Indexing For Entire Site?

This seems like it should be much easier than it actually is...

I am placing this in theme.liquid immediately after <head>:   <meta name="robots" content="noindex">

I have tried testing my site, wholesaleblocks.com, on several sites like https://botsimulator.com/botsim_send.php and others, and they all say that crawling is allowed.

I have gone so far as to make multiple upwork posts over the last few months and am unable to find anyone that can assist with this... This is one small snippet of code we are talking about here...

Can anyone offer any insight?

You can try to enable password protection, Shopify will add all URLs in private mode, Google cannot crawl your website:

  1. From your Shopify admin, you go to Online Store > Preferences.

  2. Scroll to the Password protection area, and check Enable password.

  3. In Password, enter the password that you'll give to the customers who you want to be able to access your online store. Don't use the same password that you use to log into your admin.

  4. In Message for your visitors, enter the message that you want to show on the password page. If you don't want to show a message, then leave this field blank.

  5. Click Save.

Hyde here from Shopify.

The code you are using is suggested by us in our help document here for you to exclude the search function or a single page from being indexed by Google's robots. As indicated in the help document:

To the best of my knowledge, the only way you could stop Google from indexing all of your site is by activating the password page to hide it from view. Once live, Google automatically starts crawling it in order to rank it.
