Hi community, I am new to Shopify and just set up my site for merch/blog and soon, I will link in my Podcast.  I need help with the following:

  • How do I get a "Shop" on Instagram and learn everything I can do on the Gram and the Facebook for ads etc.?
  • How can I learn this SEO business, how hard is it where to start?
  • My store loads kinda slow, how do I speed it up?

We can start there, thanks for any guidance 🙂

Hi @Artloveandvibe ,

After making sure that you're living in the region where Instagram Shop is supported, you can follow the following steps to set it up:

1. Create an Instagram Business Profile:

  • Go to your Instagram profile and tap on the hamburger icon (three lines) in the top right corner.
  • Select "Settings," then "Account," and choose "Switch to Professional Account."
  • Follow the prompts to set up your business profile, ensuring your products comply with Instagram’s commerce policies.

2. Set up a Facebook Shop:

  • Log in to your Facebook account and create a new page for your shop if you don't have one.
  • Navigate to "Meta Business Suite" and use "Commerce Manager" to set up your shop.
  • Add your products manually or sync your Shopify product catalog with Facebook.

3. Connect Shopify to Instagram:

  • In your Shopify admin, go to "Sales Channels" and add the Facebook and Instagram channels.
  • Follow the prompts to connect your Facebook account to Shopify, which may take up to 48 hours for approval.
  • Once approved, go to your Instagram profile, tap "Settings," then "Business," and select "Shopping." Connect your Instagram account to your Facebook shop.

4. Tag products in Instagram posts:

  • Create a new post on Instagram and select a photo or video.
  • Tap "Tag Products," select the specific product from your catalog, and place the tag appropriately within the photo or video.
  • Share your post with your followers.

4. Enable Instagram checkout: Within your Facebook sales channel commerce settings, choose your preferred checkout method: directly on Facebook and Instagram, on another website, or via messaging. Instagram Checkout is recommended for a seamless in-app purchase experience.

About SEO: Follow Shopify's SEO checklist diligently, or I recommend hiring an SEO expert for off-page, technical, and backlinks if you're inexperienced. If you do everything right, SEO efforts will start showing results after 3-6 months.

About speed: Improving a website's page speed is also tough work. You can try speed optimizer apps like Swift or outsource a page speed expert (usually, SEO service providers include page speed optimization in their package as well).

Hope that this helps!
