How to add external links to products without Affiliate ID

Hi,

I am just starting my shopify store. I want to add products in my store from different merchants. I don't have any affiliate program yet with them, and hence no affiliate ID yet. I just want the customer to click a button from the product's page that will take them to the respective merchant's site. Each product will have its own unique link. Can you please advise how it can be done?

Thanks so much!

Tanz

Hey, @Tanz

This can be done in a variety of different ways. How many products (different affiliate sites you are going to link out to) will likely determine which approach to take. Let's go over a couple of different options:

1. In Shopify, you can create and edit new product templates. You would need to have some comfort level with coding for this method. Essentially you would create a new product template for each unique URL you want to send traffic to. That way, when you create the product in Shopify, you will select the corresponding product template that you created for that product. What this does is change the "add to cart" button to whatever name you like and you get to assign the redirect URL. We have created this tutorial to help with the process. Otherwise I'd suggest hiring a Shopify Expert to code a template for you.

2. Alternatively, you could use an app to streamline this process. Affiiate External Outlinks. The app will replace the ‘Add to Cart’ button with an Outlink button for any product. They offer a free 7-day trial to start.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.
