What are your general tips to sell more items on Black Friday as a small business? Like every seller, I want to make sure that I take the right marketing strategy steps on BFCM.

I appreciate any suggestions.

True, that's actually what everybody wants. Luckily, there are lots of resources you can find about this topic. Still, here are my Black Friday marketing strategies that I think would be beneficial for you:

1. Get More Email Signups for Black Friday

You can grow your email list with the help of this beautiful event in November 🙂 People can’t wait to get something for free or at discount. In this case, you may show your unique opt-in forms to increase email subscriptions as well as your conversion rates in the long run.

2. Create a Sense of Urgency

Well, desire loses its value without a sense of urgency. That’s why you should trigger your customers with an immediate call to action.

You may create unique notification popups or a progress bar that will show up announcing that there are x hours & min left before missing the opportunity or when that particular product you’re looking for runs out of stock!

  • Show a countdown timer on your Black Friday popup

This is another way to create a sense of urgency: set a deadline for a hot deal! You can create your free Black Friday popup with Popupsmart today and make sure that you show your campaigns to the right audience at the right time.

3. Customize Your Landing Page for Black Friday and Cyber Monday

The average landing page conversion rate across all industries is around 2.35%.

A lot of people search for products before Black Friday. In this case, you need a landing page strategy that will help your SEO efforts. So, what you need to do is boost Black Friday sales on your landing page before the weekend of Black Friday.

  • You should convey a simple and clear but powerful call to action with a unique “Black Friday” design.

Don’t forget to promote something valuable and provide it with your CTA. You may also link to other places of your e-commerce store.

4. Provide Combo Promotions with Discounts

Think about your limit. Is it better to give a discount on one particular product or is it better to give out offers on product combinations to elevate the average order value?

Personally, I recommend creating discount coupons for a package which consist of various products relevant to each other.

For example, it could be useful to offer a special discount on wet dog food multipacks when your customer buys a sofa dog bed. It’s just an example of retaining relevancy.

5. Boost Black Friday Sales with Social Media Campaigns

Here's a quick social media checklist for Black Friday:

  •  Use Black Friday hashtags

  •  Encourage more user-generated content. Get your customers to upload pictures of their purchases. This way, you can repost their posts to boost social proof marketing.

  •  Consider working with micro-influencers

  •  Try to respond to comments and messages

  •  Benefit from Facebook ads. They're even more targeted than search ads and they can drive higher conversion rates.

6. Optimize Your Product Pages

Online consumers spend a lot of their time on product pages trying to find the product they're looking for. If your product pages can't meet their expectations, even the massive sales you offer might not bring enough conversions.

  • Write better product descriptions. Use relevant keywords for SEO and make it organic. Make sure to describe the product with sensory words to help customers visualize how it looks and feels.

  • Invest in gift guides. People often search for gifts during the holiday season. You can turn this into an advantage by grouping products like "Home Decor Gifts," "Gifts for Her," etc.

  • Upload six to eight product pictures. Display the item from different angles in high quality. Include a product video as well if you can.

Ive hit these numbers too and this strategy/calendar of pre/post launches for big events is basically what you need to scale to 7 figures a year.

This is a very common question at this time of the year. Obviously, BFCM is the most powerful seasons to boost sales and skyrocket your revenue. Many marketing tactics can be applied to make the most of this season:

1. Special discount campaigns

This is the most used practices during the sales seasons, people tend to look for special deals this time. Make sure you don't leave this trend behind. My recommendation is to review your products and offer discount on the best selling items or hot items in the season.

You can also boost product bundles or special collection just for the BFCM.

To promote your campaign effectively, flash sales are a perfect option. (Pro tip: Flash Sales should have a time and date restriction to create a true sense of urgency.)

You can consider using DoubleC app to set up attractive Flash sales deals.

Where you can promote discount campaigns:

- Email (to existing buyers, don't forget to create a sense of urgency)

- Social post

- In-web popup

- Website banner

2. Special giveaways

As mentioned above, BFCM are perfect for boosting sales, but that's not the only tactic you can utilize, special giveaways can boost your brand awareness and brand reach to more potential audience, which will definitely bring long-term effect. Making the most of user-generated content is ideal for brand enhancement.

3. Influencer marketing

Not to mention the power of influencer marketing but sometime this method is costly yet effective. So I think key to leveraging this campaign tactic is to work with individuals who have followers that look like your customer base and whose followers trust them to share quality information.

If you find my content useful, one little Like will help a lot.

One option to boost your BFCM sales is to try out personalised SMS campaigns.

Some ideas for Black Friday SMS campaigns:

1. Encourage people to opt-in for SMS way before

To send Black Friday messages to your potential customers, permission is needed first. Without a solid (and legal!) SMS marketing list, there’s simply no way to move further this point. Some ways people can opt-in for your SMS marketing campaigns:

  • Let your email subscribers know.
  • Add a sign-up form to your website or use pop-ups.
  • Organize a contest.
  • Invite to subscribe at the checkout.

And once you're happy with your subscriber base, it’s time to let them know about your upcoming Black Friday deals.

2. Start building buzz early

According to Google Trends searches for Black Friday start already in the end of September, so if you haven't started building buzz around your BFMC deals yet, it's time to act now. Send out a teaser SMS and let your subscribers know what they can expect from you this Black Friday can encourage them to visit your store to check out more. If you play your cards right, they will come back when it’s finally time.

3. Personalize

Of all marketing channels, SMS is one of the most personal and straightforward. However, you can’t expect generic messages to work as well as you’d want, and that’s why you need to tailor them for specific subscribers. For this, you need to know your audience. Addressing them by their names is nice enough, but think about how you can make your offers more relevant. Segment your audience based on location, age, gender, etc. This will allow you to craft a message that’s more likely to convert.

4. Offer real value

People subscribe to receive marketing messages because they expect to benefit from them. So with every Black Friday message you send, think – does it provide real value?

As great as promotional messages  are, you might want to vary the content of your SMS a bit. Offer different incentives, send some useful Black Friday tips and tricks, organize and invite to participate in a contest, send links to your latest (relevant) blog posts, etc.

Hi! All of the suggestions here are great and I am sure it all can feel a bit overwhelming when thinking about all the things you need to implement. One of the key drivers of communicating about your brand is through social media and paid ads. We have created an app that automates video and image content for your store to promote your products easily on all your social media channels.

You simply link Minta to your Shopify store and you immeditately have unlimited videos of all your products in your store as well as unlimited stylized images of your products...all of which you can share directly to your social platforms. You can even have us auto post for you and you can useour calendar planner to schedule out the video and image content we have created for you up to two months in advance.  You can try us for free from the Shopify App Store.
