This might be a stupid question, but how can I get my site to be at the top of google? So if anyone searches for the site or related words the site is there are the top?

Hey,

To rank your site at the top of Google result pages you have two options.

PPC & SEO

PPC is paid while SEO is free.

For both you need keywords.

Do keyword research for your website.

If you are looking for free ways to rank go with SEO. On-page & Off-page SEO activities will help you to rank your website.

start with keyword research, then

On-page SEO

lastly Off-page SEO.

The first thing you should look to do when you have your site ready to roll is to submit your sitemap to Google. You can learn more about how to do this here. This will help Google index your site, and pull relevant content. 

Next, you'll want to ensure that you are following all the SEO best practices that you can find in this guide. Be clever with your site description and use of keywords. Think of all the buzzwords that people will be searching for in your niche. Without knowing exactly what your business niche is, it's hard to give you some suggestions on this, but keep in mind what the customer will be searching for. 

Leading on from that very important point on what customers search for, you should create blog posts solving the customers' potential problems. Creating blogs is a great way to improve your SEO. You can learn about how to start using the blog feature on Shopify here.
