SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hi everyone,
I'm running a facebook retargeting ad to people who have visited certain pages. I'm using the 'Conversions' objective using the conversion of InitiateCheckout (so I'm charged every time someone initiates checkout??)
Facebook says that one person has initiated checkout so far, however Shopify Analytics says no one has proceeded to checkout so far. Therefore I was charged $0.09 for that event conversion! What's more, the Cost Per Result over this time has creeped up and although the event happened at $0.09, it is now at $0.30 and says my total spend is $0.30 (shouldn't it be locked in at $0.09?)
Could someone please help make sense of all this!?!?
Thanks everyone!
It's very confusing at first I know. I was there. Ok let's see

So 1 CO = $0.09
Total spent $0.3
If I got you right you are asking "where did the other $0.21 get spent on?" I hope I got your question right
So there are so .. so many events that happened other than that 1 check out
Advertisers get charged for
facebook is a bitch .. but a good bitch she takes money, and if you know what you're doing, facebook builds data and brings you more money .. .. now you see the whole picture.
I tried to be funny because it can't be explained by logic .. it's too complicated for logic.
I hope you have a wonderful day everyone reading this comment, stay safe everyone.

Thanks for this!
The other comment is way off the mark. Your conversion objective is what Facebook uses for optimization your ad account. If you say you want checkout, then Facebook goes and looks for more people to checkout but that does not mean they will buy. Same thing as if you tell Facebook to optimize for Add To Cart... people who add to cart may not buy.
Regardless of which optimization objective you pick. Facebook charges you on an impression bases. Each time your ad is loaded on Facebook, even if someone does not click on it or even does not look at it, you get charged for that impression. You should set your objective to purchase as that is the true goal you want. Hope you found this helpful, if so please click "like" below to let me know.
No, you get charged on impressions, not by initiated checkouts and whatnot.
Also, why are you going so analytical about a few cents spent? You won't make any sense of it if you analyze every cent spent.
Your cost per result increased because one event may have happened at $0.09 but then more people saw your ad (impressions) so the total cost increased. Like I've said, Facebook will show you how much it cost to get that event at that point in time but you will get charged on all further impressions after that which inflates the cost.
Arguments and different POVs don't help someone if you are 100% wrong. It confuses people who are new and trying to learn Facebook advertising. Getting people to purchase and having Facebook see that sale does not confuse your Facebook pixel. That is the whole point of running online advertising. My clients don't pay me to get an add to carts or start a checkout, they pay me to get sales and increase their revenue. Everyone who replied has been chill but if someone is giving out the wrong information, others are going to say something to make sure people have the right information.
Listen happy feet,
I knew you were flexing from the get-go.
I don't give a shit why someone would care to pay you. No one asked about your clients. No one cared to know, so you didn't have to mention.
THE CONVERSATION IS ABOUT THAT GUY. NOT YOUR CLIENTS!!
Last time I checked, child labor was illegal.
The only person here who is not chill is you clearly. You should check yourself if you don't like being told when you are wrong. Otherwise, you will just keep getting called out. I'll mention what I want in my posts and say what I want to help a store owner have the right information.
As a business owner, have you ever wondered when your customer's first impression of yo...
