although these are not my items, they are made by another company why should I go to GS1 and pay for GTINs?

is there any workaround to avoid creating GTINs for used items?

If the manufacturer has not assigned any barcodes then you do not need to send this info. You can then simply remove the values brand, mpn and gtin and set identifier exist to no.

You can check what data you have submitted by going to Google Merchant Center > Products > All products > click on your product > scroll to the bottom and view the final attributes.

If you have a brand value submitted you can do 2 things to resolve it.

Use feed rules to clear the values: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7450276?hl=en

Or you can use an app that can handle submitting correct information such as: https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds

With just one option:

Retail products are also known as consumer units or base units. Products for sale in a retail outlet or online should be identified with a 13-digit number called a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN).

A consumer product GTIN or barcode number is created by combining the GS1 Company Prefix licenced to you with a unique item reference.

Depending upon the length of your company prefix you will allocate item reference for your product that contains a certain number of digits. The company prefix plus the item reference will give you a total of 12 digits. Item references should be allocated sequentially from zero, without any in-built significance and recorded securely and accurately.
The final 13th digit is a "Check Digit". Use the check digit calculator to calculate a check digit.
The 13-digit GTIN may be represented in barcode format using the EAN 13 symbol. For more information about barcoding your product visit our 10 steps to barcode your product page.

@michaelstar Sneaky to put a link in the word that

Google will only accept official GS1 barcodes, bought from: https://www.gs1.org/

Hi @rookie_Seller

Some products are only shown in ads by Google if they have accurate GTINs. To solve this error, kindly update the Barcode field of the product in Shopify. If you do not have a barcode you can leave the value empty and our API will pass the value as null.

You can also check the Easy Google Shopping Feed app by AdNAbu, which manages your merchant center feed and other advanced features such as Multilanguage, Multicurrency, and Metafields.

You can also get in touch with our experts and request a demo.

Hope this helps.
