Improve Website Conversion

I recently launched my new website and the. Inversion is really low… 0.02%.  I’m driving good traffic from my meta (Facebook and instagram) ads but it’s not translating to sales at all. In fact, items are not even making it into carts.  On contrast, my Etsy store averaged a pretty high conversion rate consistently.

Before I invest in more expensive CRO audits, what can I do to improve my conversion potential?

Here is my website: www.dollovable.com

Hi @Dollovable,

I'm Tracy from BON Loyalty, the top-rated Shopify loyalty app.

First off, I just visited your store, and you're doing quite a good job! The product images are high-quality, which is crucial for making a strong impression. It's also great to see that your Etsy store is still generating orders, so it's clear the problem doesn’t lie in the products themselves.

However, I believe the low conversion rate on your Shopify store might be due to targeting the wrong audience with your ads. Here are some suggestions to improve your ad targeting and overall store performance:

1. Improve your Facebook & Instagram ad targeting:

  • Target lookalike audiences: Take a closer look at the demographics, interests, and behaviors of your top customers from Etsy. Use this data to narrow your ad audience. Facebook's Lookalike Audience tool can help you target people similar to your current buyers.
  • Ad placement: Test various ad placements like Instagram Stories, Facebook Marketplace, or Carousel Ads. These tend to perform well for product-based businesses, and they allow you to showcase multiple images and features.
  • Retargeting campaigns: Set up retargeting ads for people who have visited your Shopify store but didn’t make a purchase. This often nudges potential customers to come back and complete their order.
  • Ad creative & copy testing: Test different types of creatives (videos, carousels, testimonials) and copy for your ads to see what resonates most with your audience. The right visuals and message can make a big difference.

2. Store Conversion Rate Improvements:
From a product executive’s perspective,  I think there are a few simple tweaks that could help you improve conversions:

  • Add 'Add to Cart' button below each product: Make it easy for customers to add items to their cart directly from the product listing page. This reduces friction in the buying process and encourages impulse purchases. For example:

  • Add review ratings for each product: Showing star ratings directly on your product listings builds trust right away. Shoppers often look for social proof before deciding to buy. For instant:

  • Encourage customer reviews: I noticed you have a review section, but no reviews yet. Consider offering a small discount to your existing customers as an incentive to make a purchase on your Shopify store and leave a review. This will build credibility and trust for future buyers.
  • Limited-Time offers: Adding a banner, a pop-up or announcement bar with a limited-time offer, like “10% off for the next 24 hours,” can create a sense of urgency, driving immediate sales. People love a good deal, especially when there’s a time limit! You can get inspiration from the attached image below:

Hope these suggestions help you see some improvements! Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or need more advice. You've already done a lot of things right—just a few tweaks should get you closer to where you want to be.

Best of luck with your store!

I think you should add some discount programs and highlight them by using a few price badges to stimulate purchases, as follows:

Hi @Dollovable,

I’m from Mageplaza, a Shopify solution expert.

I would be glad to review your website and provide feedback on improving its performance. Below are some suggestions to enhance website performance:

1. Enhance SEO

Optimizing your web pages can significantly increase organic traffic, bringing more potential customers to your store. SEO is a powerful strategy for driving traffic to your Shopify website.
For a small e-commerce store, aiming for at least 1,000 visitors per month can help establish a stable sales flow.

Key elements to review include:

  • Unique and descriptive title tags and meta descriptions for each page.
  • Incorporating relevant keywords without overstuffing.
For more tips on SEO, refer to Shopify’s SEO checklist to boost your online visibility and increase site traffic.

2. Adding promotional banner

You should add seasonal banners for current promotions or collections (e.g., Summer Sale, Winter Collection) to catch the attention of customers. Additionally, you should add ATC, Shop now or add to the wish list buttons to encourage customers to buy your products.

3. Improve search bar

You should improve it by making larger product images, showing price and discount information, including brand search, collection search, etc functionality to enhance search bar. This will help customers find their needs quickly, enhancing their shopping experience. Below is a reference:
