SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hi Everyone
We have noticed that from 13th of May, suddenly the number of conversion data being sent to facebook and google dropped to 60%
It seems that for certain browsers, its not sending proper data
This has severely impacted by google ads and also i'm facing issue in google analytics reports
Has anyone faced such issue before? How can I fix it?
Please note, we not made any change in conversion tracking. and since the issue started happening on both google and facebook at the same time, i'm 100% sure its a Shopify Issue
Please find below some screenshots for reference. It is from 13th May - Please check gross shopify sales for that day and sales recorded in analytics
waiting for shopify to fix this issue but the real problem is shopify did not realize this is actually a problem.
It's not so much that they don't realize it, in fact my guess is that they can fix it pretty easily, but it seems whoever is working on it doesn't have the green light to do it, because of some other factors which are unknown to us.
I'm quite curious whether this affects all stores or just some, that would be pretty interesting to know. If it's only a handful then most likely it's not very high on their to-do list.
My only concern is that Shopify has been known to ignore issues for years and at this point I'm afraid this might go down as one of those, especially because the only official response we got in this thread is "it's not our fault" which by this point we know is a lie.
Very interesting reading all these replies - we're experiencing the same issue.
Has anyone found a third party app that they'd recommend?
Problem solved here.
I did many test
1/ "Achat" conversion tracked over GTM with datalayer push and the script in the {% if first_time_accessed %}
2/ "Achat test" Conversion send directely to Google adsWITHOUT {% if first_time_accessed %}
3/ "Purchase Tracking For.." Conversion tracked with the third party plugin 'Simprosys Google Shopping Feed' (i'm customer of this app)
4/ "Achat test 3 conversion unique" Conversion send directely to Google ads WITHOUT {% if first_time_accessed %} and only one conversion tracked by session on setting on google ads
5/ "Achat test 2 first time acces" Conversion send directely to Google ads WITH {% if first_time_accessed %}
All my conversion was tracked well without the {% if first_time_accessed %} condition
My conclusion is {% if first_time_accessed %} is the problem.
Good luck
We have already tested this but did not work, because our facebook and tiktok code already outside the {% if first_time_accessed %}. You should test again by making order through Android chrome, make 10-15 orders and let know if that works for you.
And let say we accept your solution for a moment then why custom web pixel users facing the same issue. The real issue is checkout_complete event not working properly.
You can read another community post here and here.
The temporary solution we did to uninstall the pixel app (facebook, google) from the shopify store and manually place the pixel code in the header and checkout.
Or If you want to keep pixel app then you can use two pixel codes.
Finally, shopify fixed this issue after two months.
What's the source of this information?
can't provide any source, but from yesterday conversion tracking working fine. we verify it by comparing the shopify utm source and facebook analytics.
Is it really resolved?
Yes, yesterday shopify fixed it. On our store conversion tracking working fine.
No, still not fixed.The first photo is from yesterday, the second is from today.
Yesterday, we were testing stuff, we tried two pixels of facebook, one with app and other as custom (place in header & checkout). It automatically started working fine even in google analytics also.
Still we are using two pixels, but conversion with pixel install through app also started working fine. I don't know how this solve my issue. You can say - a miracle.
Hi,
This problem is still going on.
The support said "they are working on it".
However i asked my subscription cost back until they have fixed this issue. I would advice you all to do the same. I asked as well if i can claim my advertisement cost back. Because those ads are not getting the correct data to work well.
