Incorrect Conversion Tracking in Google Ads

I’m experiencing an issue with conversion tracking in my Google Ads account. I’ve set up a conversion goal for purchases. Today, I had one conversion, but for some reason, my Google Ads account shows two. The tag on my website is correctly installed, and it seems to be working fine. What else could be causing this problem? ☹️

If the conversion is not tracking properly, here are a few procedures to check:

Conversion Settings: Ensure that the tracking code is properly configured on the transaction confirmation page.
Examine Reports: Check the "Conversions" tab for any delays or improper filters.
Tag Verification: Use Google Tag Assistant to ensure the tracking tag is functioning properly.

Hello Pawsclaws,

IF you are tracking the conversion via native apps like google and youtube may be some technical error from their end.

You might be facing a duplicate conversion tracking issue.

This often happens if the conversion tag fires more than once per transaction. You should check your conversion settings in Google Ads and ensure that the conversion event is not being triggered multiple times.

Also, please check that your tag is not installed in multiple locations or through different methods (like a tag manager.)

Additionally, are you using an app for conversion tracking? If not, then I will suggest that you try out one. And Nabu for Google Ads Pixel can be very helpful.

It is a Built For Shopify app that offers:

  1. Simple 1-click installation of Google Ads Conversion Pixel without any manual coding or theme file changes.
  2. Detailed tracking of events such as sales/purchases, items added to carts, and the initiation of checkout processes.
  3. Server-side tracking
  4. Post-purchase, upsell tracking and much more.

On top of that, if you are stuck somewhere, you also get 24*7 support from certified professionals.

Hope this helps!

Go to your goals and review the conversions set up. I almost guarantee you that you have two conversions set as the primary. If both are for purchases, delete the unwanted version or set it as a secondary conversion.
