SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Background:
On July 13th, I added some FAQ content to my product page with the intention of helping users with pre-purchase questions and improving SEO. To further enhance the SEO impact, I "cleverly" added the FAQPage schema manually to the product page.
On July 14th and 15th, I noticed that my previously successful Google Ads campaigns had almost no effect. The budget wasn't being spent, and impressions and clicks were significantly reduced.
Initially, I thought there might be an issue with my product feed that required review or some other action. However, while studying SEO, I came across a passage in Google's official documentation that caught my attention. https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/structured-data/faqpage
Question:
Since I couldn't accurately attribute the cause, I would like to confirm and verify the following:

Hey @Shawn512
Thanks for the tag.
1. Yes, adding the FAQPage data can absolutely provide SEO benefits. How much of a benefit, there is no way to know as there are a lot of factors to consider.
As long as you are using the markup correctly, only marking up actual FAQs that are visualy on the page, you qualify for the FAQ Rich Results and may see increased traffic.
2. That line in Google's Docs "Don't use FAQPage for advertising purposes." is saying they don't want you to use the content specific for your ads. In other words, don't use the FAQPage structured data markup to manipulate ads.
That doesn't mean using the FAQ markup would cause your ad campaign to be completely unsuccessful.
I have never heard anyone have issues with Google Ads when also including the FAQPage structured data. So I would have a hard time believing this was the reason for an unsuccessful ad campaign. I've been wrong before, so it's possible, but I would need some strong evidence to suggest that's accurate.
