SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hi,
My apology to start a discussion with this basic topic, but I am not sure that Redirect is working properly with my website. I would me keen if someone could to check as I received a warning from an SEO audit tools that is was not correct.
On Shopify>Online Store>Domains I have my primary domain "www.vaniye.com" set, with the setting "Traffic from all your domains redirects to this primary domain."
On the same admin page, I have a Third-Party domain that is define "vaniye.com"
I assumed that the traffic from "vaniye.com" would automatically been redirect to "www.vaniye.com" as it is described above. However following the result of the SEO audit, I have typed on my Chrome navigator "vaniye.com" but instead of automatically have a redirection 301 and having been chnaged automatically form "vaniye.com" to "www.vaniye.com",
the brother kept "vaniye.com" as it is and displayed my website home page.
1. It seems for me that there is a problem and Google would reference both "www.vaniye.com" and "vaniye.com". Can someone confirm?
2. Do I need to change anything? Do I need to go to Shopify>Online Store>Domains and create a manual redirection? If it is the case, do I need to set "http://vaniye.com" to redircet to to "http://www.vaniye.com"? Do I need to specify https or http ?
Thanks for your help.
RGds,
Laurent

It's not you, it's Chrome 😉
Your redirect is working, but Chrome recently stopped display "www." in the URL bar. I think they're trying to reduce clutter and make it more clear what website you're on for security.
When I went to vaniye.com, I only see vaniye.com in the URL bar. But when I click it once, it selects all of vaniye.com, then when I click it again, it shows the full URL as https://www.vaniye.com/
Additional info:
I am now even more confused because on Chrome it seems that "vaniye.com" is displayed all the time as the primary domain even if I type www.vaniye.com (see below printscreens), versus Firefox seems to redirect everything to "www.vaniye.com"
Thanks for clarification.

Thanks Andrew. It was I discovered when I was comparing Chrome display and Firefox.
Thank you to confirm it.
