Is Shopify allowing scammers to advertise on their platform?

They advertise scammers and then turn around and say that “we are just a platform and not the shop itself” but I only trusted buying from the platform because I figured shopify would make sure to offer advertisement to legitimate stores and refund their clients loney if it was not legitimate.

Hi, @Jonjonas.

I appreciate that you put your trust in Shopify, and I want to assure you that we work to ensure merchants are compliant with the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.

Shopify does not manage orders or fulfillment on behalf of the businesses using the platform, and therefore cannot facilitate refunds. Refund requests must be made to the store you ordered from. The easiest way to contact a store regarding your order is to reply directly to the order confirmation email you received after purchase. Alternatively, you can check their website for contact information such as a contact form, email address, or social media channels.

If you're able to contact the store and it has been more than 4 weeks since placing your order, please see our online order FAQ here for next steps. This page also includes a link to send a report to our team if you believe the store in question is not compliant with the Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy.
