hi, I’m new here. I have had my site for over a year and have only 20 sales. I have a shop on Etsy for years and have done well there but here it’s an entirely different set up. I would really appreciate if you could take a look at my site and let me know what you think. Last year I hired help suggested by Shopify to clear up my descriptions and photos but still do not see any changes. Feel like it was money wasted and it was a lot! Thanks so much.
Since you have requested viewers to have a look at your site and give further suggestions, you have forgotten to add your site address 🙂
Secondly, I would like to ask you if you have tried on Adwords?
You have a beautiful store. Loved it!!
I have run through your website for through SEO check. Attached is the preliminary report with the designated changes to have higher SEO. Hope this will help.
Report can be downloaded from https://seositecheckup.com/seo-audit/www.treasuresbyagnes.com
Thanks for taking the time. I am so confused on what meta tags are and honestly the rest of the report. What are H1 headings? Image alt test? So lost on these. I really appreciate feedback and help. Thank you !
Hey Agnes Correll,
I visited your site, it seems like your site needs onsite and on page optimization.
H1 tags are missing which is header tag. (The h1 is an HTML tag that indicates a heading on a website.)
7 images without ALT and 12 without Title. (ALT tag is an HTML attribute applied to image tags to provide a text alternative for search engines. Applying images to alt tags such as product photos can positively impact an e-commerce store's search engine rankings.)
I hope this helps.
Sorry for sharing the report, so vaguely. I thought you understand the SEO basics.
Sharing with you some basic SEO gyaan:

And from some of your answer, I can tell you are not really aware of SEO techniques. So I would like to suggest that you should hire some professional person who can give justice to the SEO work. Hi, would you be able to tell me if it’s the same as the header in the theme that I’m using? Another words, where do I go to change or add a header?
Can anyone please help? I really appreciate your feedback but just do not know how to implement it. Where do I go to change / add a header?

All the advice here is pretty good. But I would also suggest learning more about Keyword Research. You're questions about meta tags, and SEO, are great, but to really be in the best position to leverage and utilize them, you need to do keyword research.
There is a really really great guide to this on A Better Lemonade Stand, I've linked it here, It's a long read, but it's an "ultimate guide" and it really helped me out. I learned so much from it, I think it can help you too.
Hey Agnes, if you didn't know what an h1 is, I'm pretty sure you are going to need some help implementing these suggestions - and there's nothing wrong with that! You have a beautiful site and awesome products, I'd leave the nerdy code stuff to someone who does it every day.
Did someone help you get your shop up and running? Or did you take an off-the-shelf theme and do it yourself? If you had help I would approach them again with these questions.
Of course there are endless people here you could hit up for help for a fee. If you are looking to do it on a bootstrapped budget, you may be surprised to find people in your circle you already know whou could help you. More and more schools are teaching basic HTML code to students at different levels.
Hope this helps you, please respond if you are still looking for someone and I'm sure I could connect you with affordable help.
Hi Agnes! Maggie, a Shopify Partner here 🙂
Great tips above! Please also make sure to optimize your content using internal links, right keywords, link and image tags and more. Not sure how to do it? Please check this video tutorial: How to completely SEO your Shopify pages.

Hi, yes i am still strugling withit. I just do not have much experience in coding. I sell on Etsy and things there are very simple as far as listing. If someone could lead me to some affordable but trust worthy help that woudl be appreciated.
So more than likely the reason you did well on Etsy is that Etsy advertises on Google Shopping so you probably saw benefits of that. Etsy is also a niche platform so you will get a lot of people who are looking for exactly what you sell on there.
With your own website, the training wheels have come off and it's time to pedal on your own aka marketing and traffic. The encouragement here is that you are getting sales regardless of the time frame. Some businesses would do cartwheels for 20 sales in a year.
A lot of the advice given so far is sound but it's also very technical. I agree with GrowthHit that you probably want to outsource the technical side of SEO unless you want to spend the time to learn it on your own. The help you got was probably focused on the website SEO so could be have been worth it but it's not the key to driving more sales.
Can you share how much traffic you are getting a month? This would put into context the 20 sales (1.6 sales a month). Because sales come from site visitors so you want to focus right now not directly on sales but on getting people to the site. The more people you get, the more of likelihood they will convert.
I think where you are going to get the most bang for your buck is investing in posting in social media like Instagram because your niche fits that platform. Then build relationship with influencers that are in your niche or complimentary. Talk to them about showcasing your products and how you can benefit them or their audience. This isn't a 'see immediate results' kind of thing but it can set you up for long term success.
Hi Benjamin, so this will tell you how clueless I am about this site. I don't even know where to get my monthly report for visits. I basically need someone for the technical part. I do a lot of social media already and that in itself is a pain. I also send out notices with each Etsy order advertising my website. I offer 10% off for first order and have had 6 people take advantage of that. That is great ! But i have literally send out about 1,500 of those notices. I am just trying to make sure my titles, descriptions, etc are all optimal for SEO.
Hey Agnes! Welcome back to the forums. Site looks great, sorry to hear you're still having slow growth. Nice job on sending out those notices with sales, good thinking.
It looks like your product titles are optimized "Etsy style" with lots of keywords that no doubt help within the Etsy ecosystem. Unfortunately, that is awfully close to falling under what Google calls "keyword stuffing" which can actually get you penalized in the SEO world.
You're not competing with other small shops now in a closed system, you're competitng with literally every other website in the world - it's a whole different game.
Do you use Google Analytics on your site? Even without it, the normal Shopify reports are pretty handy for getting general numbers like visitors.
I'd like to connect with you via email and set up a time to go over a few basics with you. You have clearly put a ton of time and effort into your shop, you've done most of the hard work already but there's more yet to do.
