Looking for honest opinions

Started our store about 3 months ago and I'm getting frustrated spending money on facebook, seeing traffic then very little conversions.  I know 1400 visits since inception with a pitiful 0.34% conversion rate isn't a lot but it makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong either with my facebook / instagram ads or with the store itself.  I have a domain name, paid for a logo and thought the store looked decent so I'm wondering if it's that I'm just not getting enough traffic or it's the products or prices or both.  The theme of the store is outdoor/athleisure.

Any input would be greatly appreciated

Hi Cheri, you've got a great looking site and an interesting array of items for sale.  A couple of things stand out for me.  First, your homepage isn't well organized.  At first glance, it looks like you only sell six items.  You have to explore the menu to understand what's on offer, and people are used to getting their info visually (not by reading).  I'd have three images for your three departments (Clothing, Accessories, Gear), and then some separation and a few sale items.

These days it's hard to sell items that aren't reviewed, which is the second thing that stands out for me.

And lastly with your Facebook page, I'd also post/link to camping related things.  Facebook is a chance for buyers to learn not just about the products, but the "company:" its likes, values, attitude, etc.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input, it's all great stuff I'm getting.  I can see that sometimes it's hard to see the forrest for the trees when you're too close to something and having someone look at it with fresh eyes is really helpful.

I hear you with the reviews, I added the review function but haven't had many sales because I've stopped the Facebook ads until I have everything ironed out.  I think I will just have to get to a place where I will have to do YouTube review videos as that seems to be the thing to do.

I also added some print on demand swag to start building the brand so i'm hoping that helps.

When it comes to advertising, and you are focused on sales, you need to learn and study to find the correct people. Simply advertising and getting traffic is easy, but these may not be the quality customers you are looking for.

To get the highest conversion rate, you need to advertise on areas where the customers are most interested in buying. Facebook is not really that place, Facebook is great for brand awareness and remarketing.

I recommend you go with Google Shopping, this is a marketplace where customers are actively searching with the intent to buy.

In the end, you need to find the people that are interested in buying your product, research this first before you spend money on advertising.

Hope this helps.

I've set up my Google pixel but all of my products have been in pending for weeks now...I'm about ready to give up on it.  Any idea why that would be?

If you are talking about Google Merchant Center (GMC):

1) Check GMC > products > diagnostics > and resolve all errors

2) Make sure you have added shipping details in Shopify if you use there content api, else add them in GMC

3) Make sure you have added tax details in shopify if you use there content api, else add them in GMC

4) Make sure you have a contact page with, business address, opening hours, contact email address, phone number and contact form

5) That you have a privacy policy page

6) That you have a returns policy page

7) That you have a delivery charge page

If you have checked all the above and made changes, and nothing has been approved after 5 business days, then fill out the form here : https://support.google.com/google-ads/contact/processing

Hope this helps.

It's saying my product landing pages are missing microdata....I did update all the categories...but now I'm wondering what microdata is.  This is a real jungle.

Microdata is structured data, which will not prevent your products from getting approved and is simply a warning, not an error. You can find tutorials on how to add structured data by searching something like "google shopping structured data for shopify"

You can also read the official documentation here : https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7331077

Hope this helps.

HI Cheri,

I went through your store and it looks very good!

Of course there will always be things to improve, however I don't believe that the issues of not getting sales are related to your actual store.

It might be that you're not advertising enough or not doing that correctly. I think generating relevant traffic is the number ONE problem of every new Ecommerce store. It's quite a complex mission to create good advertising campaigns on Google and Facebook, if you're not familiar enough with the options available or the relevant audinece for your store.

You might want to try AdScale to help you with your advertising campaigns. It's a Shopify app that automatically creates and manage advertising campaigns for your store, using advanced AI technology.

What's unique about this app is that it use insights from milions of active campaigns in order to create a very accurate audience targeting that is tailored to your store and products.

You can learn more about it in this link: ecom.adscale.com

Hope it helps!

AdScale is the best way to advertise on Facebook & Google because we use the power of your store data (that they don’t have) to run highly targeted ads and get an average ROAS of 10X.

It's really tough to sell an entire brand with Facebook and Google ads till your established. We recommend choosing one product (the best one) and making it the initial prospecting campaign with dialed-in targeting, copy, and imagery.

Warm up that Facebook Pixel!

Best,
