Hello!

I am looking for help on why I am unable to turn visitors into sales. I am currently running Facebook and google ads, as well as using influencers. What is wrong with my site limiting people from converting?

Thank you!

Hi Steve! Maggie, Shopify Expert here 🙂

You have really amazing products, very engaging homepage and inviting to check more. You have done an excellent job so far. I don’t think there’s anything in particular on your website that can be off-putting for potential shoppers.

It sounds like the traffic sources you have set up so far - Google ads, Facebook ads, and Influencers - need more attention. Perhaps the traffic coming is from people who are browsing only - they are not actively looking to buy at a first visit.

It’s often possible to convert them later - through retargeting ads or with a newsletter. Make sure to set retargeting ads and also make more people join your mailing list, so you can send them regular updates and offers.

These days an average person needs to come across a brand 22 times before they convert - so the more often they see you in their feed or their inbox, the more likely they’ll convert.

One thing I noticed in your store, is that your product titles are not SEO-friendly yet. For example “The Princess” below gives a little indication to the search engines as to what you are selling:

Screen Shot 2020-01-21 at 08.54.03.png

That’s why Google might be confused as to which search results this listing belongs to.

Consider writing more SEO Friendly titles, such as: “The Princess Personalized Pet Portrait” - it’s much easier to understand for Google and it will help you get found by the right people in the relevant search results. It will increase your organic traffic from Google and increase sales.

Your About us page is excellent - it builds trust and rapport, which is important for sales.

Make sure to work on the little finishing touches, which will make the ordering much easier for your clients [improve your user-experience]. In places where you mention to email you, consider either linking the “send us an email” text to the Contact us page, or hyperlink it.

Screen Shot 2020-01-21 at 08.58.07.png

This way you’ll delight your customers, make it more seamless for them to contact you, which is an extra point for you. See how to hyperlink email address

Your shipping and returns policies are excellent - unique, plenty of information and they build trust for you as an established business, perfect.

Under My Wishlist you ask people to log in to proceed, however, there’s no link to log in or register. You probably disabled this function in your store - you can either restore it - this way people will have to create an account before making a purchase, which might affect conversion rate slightly. You can alternatively remove this page from the top menu, if you don’t like them to do it.

The rule of thumb is - you can ask your customers to create an account to save their details for the future only if you are selling products they order regularly [cosmetics, groceries etc.] Otherwise there’s no need to have this function enabled. So I do recommend removing the Wishlist for now - you can add it back in the future once you see you have people returning to your store and ordering gifts on a regular basis.

Veteran owned business in the footer - that’s an excellent idea and it can definitely help your conversion rate.

Consider adding more written content to the website - ideally on a regular basis. Google loves written content, so blogging regularly can help you improve your SEO. Blogging is powerful - it helped me get to Google page #1 in only four days with this blog post: Breadcrumbs in SEO

Consider working on your content consistency as well, to rank for more specific, niche-related phrases:

As the keywords you currently target are very generic, it’s difficult for Google to rank you in the relevant search results. Make sure to use the target keywords within your written content in order to rank in the right search results and drive organic traffic from Google.

Also, work on the amount of content on your website - through regular blogging and adding more pages - that gives Google more reasons to keep checking your website and crawling it again:

Image alt tags - make sure to add descriptive SEO friendly alt tags to each new image you upload. That’s a great way to improve your SEO [Google will be able to understand what each image represents] and make your website more accessible for the users who browse with images switched off.

Here are a few guides that might help:

Maggie,

Thank you so much! I have began implementing all of your changes. We added a new product line that is a "simple" theme, targeted for users that do not want an outfit. Additionally, we are coming out with phone cases in the very near future. Thank you again for all your help!

You should maximize engagement on your store. It will help you to capture visitors and convert them into customers and result in more sales.

- Start using a loyalty program and referral program to entice your customers. It will help you build a loyal customer base. You can give loyalty points to your customers on activities like signing up, allowing for web push notifications, make a purchase, visiting a store and many more. This will help in doubling the sales as when you give loyalty points to your customers they will come again on your store to make a purchase in order to redeem those points. You can give rewards to your customers to redeem those points.

- Add web push notifications, it will help you to retarget your customers even when they are not on your store. It will also reduce the abandoned cart rate.

- Add a referral program. Referral marketing is a cost-effective way to gain new and loyal customers. Because people are social creatures, individuals that are referred to your company are much more likely to remain loyal customers.

If you would like to implement all these I would suggest you to install AiTrillion.com It has all the features in a single app and is a fully integrated app. It is all in one Shopify app. Plus you don't need to install multiple apps. You can check it out. I am sure you will find it useful.

Checked your website via the waybackmachine.

I would recommend getting more calls to action. For example if you look at the website here or here every section of the site has a fun CTA button.

Sometimes it's easy like this to lead a prospect to step one and later retarget with ads to drive the sale!

June,

I agree, Calls to action are a big part of it. But except for going for a simple CTA button, I think you are also missing CTA boxes at the bottom of the page, for example see Network Cabling page here or a page on growth360 website you shared.

Best of luck!

Look into streamlining your checkout experience. We often see a lack of trust or an overcomplicated checkout process on eCommerce website. For example - this site has implemented a one click checkout process, which has really streamlined their sales. Often times, it's not about getting more traffic, it's about converting existing traffic better.
