Hey, i am getting clicks on my Meta ads (CTR: around 7%) but not getting sessions on shopify. Shouldnt be a click on the ad a session on shopify?
@noah12x2 Hi! Yes, a click on your ad should generally register as a session on Shopify. If you're seeing clicks but no sessions, it could be due to tracking issues, like a slow-loading page, ad blockers, or tracking not set up properly. Double-check your Shopify analytics settings and pixel integration in Meta to ensure they’re accurately capturing traffic.
Yes. An ad click is a Shopify session. Some issues can result in discrepancies in these figures. 2 major issues can cause this:
Wrongly installed pixel & conversions API
Slow site - A person clicks on an ad, meta registers a click, site loads slowly and visitor stops the process with the site fully loading so Shopify doesn't record a session
Check out these 2. Let me know if you need further help.

Hey Noah @noah12x2 yes an ad click does in fact register as a Shopify session so you should probably troubleshoot to search for any tracking issues that could exist and maybe check in with Meta too.
Hi @noah12x2,
This is Alexis from Akohub. We've been consulting many Shopify brands, so we hope our answer helps! You’d think that a click on the ad would automatically show up as a session in Shopify, but it doesn’t always work that way. Here are a few things that could be causing the disconnect:
First, it could be that you have a link issue. Make sure that the link in your ad is pointing directly to your Shopify store. Sometimes, if there's a misconfiguration or typo in the URL, it could lead to a broken link or redirect issue that prevents users from reaching your site, even if they click on the ad.
Sometimes, there’s an issue with the link in the ad. Even a small mistake or broken link could prevent Shopify from recognizing it as a session. Double-check the URL in your ad to make sure it's correct.
Another reason could be that not all clicks turn into sessions if the user has strong privacy settings or an ad blocker. It’s not super common, but it can happen, especially with more privacy-conscious users. Also, Meta uses some tracking redirects that might not always go through properly. This could cause clicks to register on Meta but not on Shopify.
If this is becoming a recurring issue, our app, Ako Marketing might help. It's an all in one solution app (retargeting, loyalty and CRM) and it offers better tracking for Shopify stores and can give you more insight into where users are dropping off, so you can make sure those clicks are actually turning into sessions.
