Hello all,

I've started a store not too long ago, It's very quiet at the moment and I'd like to gain some traffic.  Any tips and advice will help a bunch!

So far, I've written meta descriptions and titles etc, submitted my sitemap to google, alt texts, written blog posts and currently posting google ads.  I am still not ranking..What should my next step be?  My products aren't impulse items so going on social media might not be effective, correct me if I'm wrong I'm still learning:)

Thanks

Hello Ron!

If you don't mind, can you provide a link to your store so everyone can see what your products is?

It's true that social platforms like Facebook and Insta are good for impulse buy, but it does not mean they can't be used as a part of marketing campaign for planned purchasing. Typically they are used for retargeting people who have visited your site earlier.

As for traffic, ads is one the quickest (some even say most effective) at gaining visitor, but there are other sources that you can make use of.

One of them being other Shopify stores. This is done by joining an ad exchange circle: by allowing other merchants to advertise their products on your website, you get to advertise on their site in return with no cost involved.

What makes this effective is the traffic is already of high quality – these are people willing to at least browsing store’s content so you don’t have to grab their attention from whatever they are doing and get them into the shopping mood. With the merchants I work with, they normally only need to reach 100 people to start getting clicks (as opposed to the 500 or 1000 reach on Facebook).

There are apps do this for you and most of them come with free plan so you can try it out as long as you want. Instant Traffic, for example, is one that does this effectively.

Hope that helps!

By using the app you also join ad circle, sorry if I was not clear enough.

If you don't have an idea of what to do, I suggest googling your competitors and go to they website to see what kind of ads they run, and what content they create and how they market those content to attract leads (essential doing some detective work : ).  If they retarget on Facebook, you should see their ad on your newfeed later - or if they page are public, you can use the Facebook Ad library to see what kind of ads they run.

For those still interested in this topic since it's a useful one, here are a few tips: try to create a blog for your agent so that they can constantly have new content on their site. We like to link this content with their social media accounts. Be sure to have your keywords in your H1 and H2 headings, and first paragraph. Lastly, try to target an even more local area than the nearest large city, since most people are looking for a certain area within the city. Maybe use a certain neighborhood or suburb as your keyword.

Hi Ron,

If you haven't begun using an automated advertising system, you might be significantly under-utilizing your site potential. Here at AdScale, we recommend always using a system with AT LEAST AI automated processes for cross channel and platform advertising as well as bid and budget automatons. This can make a significant difference in creating robust targeted advertising campaigns that improve your conversion rates.

Moreover, I strongly suggest trying out a Free store analyzer to check that the meta descriptions and titles you've written, your sitemap is of a high quality, and that other details that you might have missed are optimized for SEO crawlers. Often there are quite a few details going on behind the scenes that we miss, and these details can dramatically affect the effectiveness and purposefulness of your site as well as your advertising budget.

So, using a free Store Checkup Tool like the one from AdScale might be of help. It will give you a report on how ready your site is to advertise and deliver you actionable fixes if need be.

If you have any more questions, feel free to contact me.

AdScale is the best way to advertise on Facebook & Google because we use the power of your store data (that they don’t have) to run highly targeted ads and get an average ROAS of 10X.

Hi @Ron4674 .

First thing I'd say is that even if your products are not impulse items Social media marketing should be a no brainer for your Marketing arsenal.

Trying to get traction using organic ways like blogging is great but is a long term strategy which will not bring in results quick enough. It is good to do so, but they will not move the needle for your business quick enough.

You need to create a paid advertising plan and execute based on this plan.

Decide on your budget, and then start allocating to the most relevant social media channels you think are out there.

Once you start getting a little traction and "pixeling" audiences, then you will eventually need to retarget them with incentives to buy your products.

You can find plenty of resources online on Social Media advertising and Facebook ads more specifically here are some of the good guides that I'd suggest you:

  1. https://adespresso.com/guides/facebook-ads-beginner/
  2. https://buffer.com/library/facebook-ads
  3. https://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/facebook-ads-ultimate-guide-businesses/
  4. https://blog.flashchat.ai/strategies-to-increase-ecommerce-sales/
  5. https://blog.flashchat.ai/beginners-guide-facebook-advertising/

Hope these will help.

Good luck!
