SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hi everyone! I am brand new to Shopify and just launched my first store. Actually, I am very inexperienced with ecommerce in general, as I have never sold anything online. I just launched my first store a few days ago, and would love some feedback/advice on how to get my first real sales! Some family and friends have purchased, but I am struggling to get my first real customer. My shop: www.goluckyadventures.com
Thanks!! 🙂
Hey, @sam154
One of the first things I noticed is your navigation text gets drowned out by your header image, making it difficult to read:
What you could do is apply an overlay on the image to make it slightly darker, allowing for the white text to pop. You can use a free online photo editing tool such as Photopea to accomplish this. Use the paintbrush tool, select black color, set the opacity to 20-30%, and apply.
If you are running black Friday deals, now would be the time to start setting up your homepage to showcase your upcoming deals and to bring awareness to your stores upcoming sales. We have a great guide here that provides 12 tips to get your business ready for BFCM.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Hi @sam154
Congratulations on your store. This is very impressive regarding the fact you said that you're really new to Shopify or e-commerce in general. Conversion rate is always a big concern for any type of merchants, even the most experienced once. However, it can be improved considerably by crafting an excellence online shopping experience for your customers. It's indeed a task you need to take a look before investing in ads or anything else.
This is PageFly - Advanced Page Builder with 6 years of experience providing conversion rate optimization solutions to more than 100.000 Shopify stores. Hereby, I would love to give you some recommendations.
FIRST of all, add favicon to your store
Having a favicon for your store will make your store unique and help customers easily recognize it. You can check this article to know how to add it.
1. HOMEPAGE
1.1. Make the menu sticky
A sticky menu header helps customers to reach out to the menu and access the menu anytime they want.
You will also need to find a way to guarantee the navigation bar is quickly accessible. At present, the text is very thin and hard to notice immediately.
1.2. Add section about your brand story
A brand story helps customers understand more about your business and also helps your store look more professional.
Don't be too sales-y. The rule is always connect and engage with customers first, before you can get any order.
1.3. Add testimonial - customer reviews
Customer reviews are proof of your product quality. This section will help you build customers' trust. You can show rating stars for each product or you can add customer reviews as text and photos.
2. COLLECTION PAGE
Add average ratings for each product
You should include both the user rating average and number of ratings on the product list items. This is one of the crucial elements for users’ purchasing decisions. They will rely on both to decide whether they should explore further a product.
3. PRODUCT PAGE
3.1 Use swatches as the selector for Color variations
Instead of a drop-down color selector, you can consider using color swatches to provide visibility- this will help users to assess the available colors of products easier.
3.2 Display or Link to a Return policy from the main Product page content (Optional)
Making the Return policy visible in the main Product Page content, especially “Buy” section will help minimize users’ purchase anxiety.
Featuring a link in or near the “Buy” section can be a motivating factor when users are considering whether they should make a purchase or not.
3.3 Subdivide long product description with Sections and Headings
Adding subsection headings helps users easily navigate long lists of bullet points as well as blocks of text. Besides, it also enables users to find relevant information slightly quicker compared to a bullet list without the headings of similar length.
3.4 Display a minimum of 6 reviews by default and allow users to submit reviews
Normally, users often rely on reviews to judge a product besides product detail descriptions and other info given by a site since they consider them more legit and authentic. I would recommend you display reviews on your product page (with a minimum of 6 reviews with the ability to “Load more” and allow users to submit their reviews.
Moreover, you can check this guide to pick the best reviews app for your store!
