SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hi there, I spend on meta ad, the placement is IG only. From the ad reports, I saw there's 500+ clicks on the performance. However, no data is being recorded in Shopify analytics and also Google Analytics. I check with Shopify expert and they told me that nothing can be done because of the discrepancies between Shopify & Google; Shopify & Meta.
I m wondering how come no traffic can be recorded in Shopify Analytics???? anything I do wrong or wrong setting from my side?
Much appreciated for your help! Thank you!
Hi @VenusLee,
That’s strange that both tracking tools aren’t showing any data. Are you seeing any traffic data in GA/Shopify or none at all (i.e. when you visit the site is your session being recorded)?

Hi Scott, yes its really strange! Shopify and GA can only record my data once I go to my website directly. Even if i enter the website via IG advertisement, there's no traffic to be recorded in Shopify/IG. Any ideas? Thanks!!!
I can’t speak for why Shopify reporting isn’t working, but how is your GA configured? Are you using Tag Manager or Google & YouTube Shopify app?
If the former, can you check in Tag Manager that tracking is firing correctly (in debug mode)? It could be that the cookie consent might be blocking sessions from being recorded.

Hi Scott, many thanks for your help! I assumed the website is connected with Tag Manager successfully, btw, I just check it out and I' m not sure if it's the correct setting between Tag Manager & Shopify store? Looking forward to hearing from you soon and guide me for the next steps. Huge thanks!
There’s are a few ways that you can set up GA in Shopify, one is to use the Google app, the other is to use Tag Manager – which sounds like the integration you have.
If you’re using Tag Manager, you just need to make sure you have the tracking code added to the head and body of your site. If that’s set up correctly, then your configuration should be ok.
To check your configuration, you can then head over to tag manager and go into debug mode. You should test some different URLs to see whether the tag is firing as expected.
Google has a great series on YouTube, which will take you through the steps discussed above: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuE37-MM1ws&list=PLI5YfMzCfRtZ4bHJJDl_IJejxMwZFiBwz&index=2
Let me know if that helps.
