SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hi,
We would like to offer the "Pick up at store" functionality exclusively to employees who are tagged as such in our system. However, I'm unable to create a custom rule to achieve this in our current Shopify setup. I was wondering if you might have any suggestions or solutions for non-Shopify Plus users?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Best regards,
Rebecca

Hi @Trivashop first double check if any currently used shipping-apps support using things like customer tags for offering different delivery methods; generally apps using the carrier service api. Otherwise digging through the app forum or the app store itself may be needed.
If custom shipping is not a workable solutions here's some alternatives,
Generally the sanest approach is a separate locked down store, try to negotiate multiple billing price if going this route.
The second store doesn't even really need a storefront-website, employees just need to be directed there with the store specific variant ids, such as in a cart-permalinks.
For a single store scenarios the next sanest is a members\employees only area with specific products(possibly duplicates) and shipping profiles/shipping apps , either with a single store, or two stores and using buy-buttons to put the products on the main store in the members area.
Apps like locksmith can be used to gate content and products.
Either approach can be a good test-bed for developing future customer facing features.
Alternatively automate editing the order to change it's shipping. 💣 unless offering local-delivery as orders with local-delivery may not be editable .

Hi @Trivashop - You may need a third-party shipping app to configure shipping rules based on customer tags. You can take a free trial of ShipperHQ and configure your use case with the help documentation provided. Let me know if you have any questions.
