Pre-sell Kickstarter style but in Shopify?

I want to run campaigns where we email our customer base to have them vote on the next product we put into production, but vote with their dollars. Essentially pre-selling.

Has anyone seen a good example of this done, or a Shopify app that suits it best, or have any experience in it?
