Problem with Google Merchant Center - Items Expiring

Yesterday (10/05) we had a problem with our Google Merchant Center, with 60% of items planning to expire over the weekend. This morning (11/05) I have logged into the Merchant Center and seen it has now gone up to 95% expiring items, which is our entire store.

How can we re-upload / re-sync our items with Google immediately?

Hello @maiidment !

The main reason why your items may be expiring is because you probably haven't updated your product data in the last 30 days. In order to keep the product information displayed on Google Shopping up-to-date, all products expire after 30 days. If you want your products to remain active, you'll need to update your product data.

Sign in to your Merchant Center account.

Click the tools icon, then select Automatic improvement under “Settings”.

On the following page, you can enable automatic item updates for price, availability, or both price and availability.

Thanks,

Digital Artisans

  1. Go to Google Merchant Center
  2. Top right corner, click on the gear icon
  3. Select Automatic Improvements
  4. Click on the tab Item updates
  5. Disable automatic item updates
  6. Contact Shopify to force a manual update for all products

Hello, I'm having the same problem. I manually updated each product in my Shopify store and after a week it's made no difference, all products are still appearing as expired in Merchant Centre.

DigitalArtisans has recommended turning on Automatic Item Updates in GMC and EmmanuelFlossie has recommended disabling Automatic Item Updates. Can someone clarify the contradiction? Any other recommendations?

There is a new solution, that I have discovered.

Solution 3 here: https://feedarmy.com/kb/google-merchant-center-products-expiring-using-shopify-solution/

Explains how you can use a supplement feed to force an update, and resolve the issue in half an hour.

Hi. I am having the very same issue. As from the 30/09/2021 my products started expiring. Im down to 9 products from 6k.

I called Google & Shopify numerous times.

I haven't gotten a solution yet. Just a promise on a call back/email within 24 hours everytime.

Have you come right with this problem?

to me it would make sense to leave the automatic updates on, however the lady i spoke to this morning from Shopify,  confirmed that this feature should be turned off.

Hi, that is not good. I think I remember changing the store location, saving it, and then changing the location back to where you are based. This causes Google’s API to scan through your site and trigger an update.
