SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hello,
I am new here and I have problems with submitting the sitemap to search console.
Maybe you can help me, that would be great.
When I write down "sitemap.xml" into search console, I get the information that I should enter a valid path to the sitemap at my homepage. The sitemap can't be read.
What can I do?
Thank you, Silke

Hello, I don't know why, but today the sitemap has been accepted in Search Console.
Thank you all for your support

Here you can see the screen shot of the vidio from shopify, how to sumbitt the sitemap to search console.
When they click on "sitemap" on the left, you can see the shopname - and next to this name you have to write "sitemap.xml"
But at my site there is no shopname... Maybe this is the mistake?
Thanks a lot! Silke
Can you include a screenshot of your Google Search Console page? Maybe you haven't defined your website property yet? Instructions here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/34592?hl=en
Hello stevemet,
here you can see the screenshop of my Google Search Console page.
I don't see any problem with it. I did come across a post where someone else had the same problem. They just removed the leading "/" from sitemap.xml and it worked. You should try that. I see that your web property ends in a "/", so that could result in two slashes. This was not a problem in the past, but could be a bug in the new Google Search Console.
I cannot remove the "/" , I just wrote „sitemap.xml“
Yes, the web property ends with this "/" , because in a help site of search console I read that this is neccessary.
I will try to delet it or make two of it.
thank you
Hello,
I can not delete this "/", and I also can't add two of them...??
Sorry, but I don't understand what's going on. The file is definitely there, and reachable, via both www and non-www, so that doesn't appear to be the problem. Do the other Search Console functions work, such as Coverage?
If you'd like me to look inside Search Console, you can grant me access to it temporarily. I don't want to post my actual account email here but you can reach me at stevemaarten at gmail, and we'll take it from there.
