Cheers everyone,

We are having a problem setting up the ads. We have managed to connect our product catalog to facebook, but there is a problem. When we run an ad in FB, it comes up in the fields, but when a customers who clicks on the product from the ad the link that leads to the product on the site gives a 404 error. I will attach pictures to show as well. Please nudge us to resolve the issue as we are running ads to our site right now.

In one sentence,
when someone click on the product from the ad, the link that is open the page that load is empty - 404. That is the problem.

Hi @gogo3@MeganMarshall

If you encounter a 404 error when running Facebook ads, the destination URL you've specified for your ad is not valid or accessible. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Double-check the URL: Verify that the URL you provided in the ad settings is correct. Make sure there are no typos, extra spaces, or missing characters.

  2. Check for HTTP/HTTPS and www/non-www discrepancies: Ensure your website's URL is consistent with the one specified in the ad settings. For example, if your website uses "https://www.example.com," the ad URL should also have "https://www.example.com."

  3. Validate the landing page: Make sure the landing page associated with your ad is live and accessible. Try accessing the landing page from different devices and browsers to ensure it is not restricted or blocked in some instances.

  4. Review your website's server logs: Check your website's server logs to identify any issues or error messages related to the 404 errors. This can provide more insight into the problem.

  5. Temporary issues: Sometimes, 404 errors might be temporary due to server issues or website maintenance. Wait and try again later to see if the problem persists.

  6. Test the link outside of Facebook: Copy and paste the ad's URL directly into your browser's address bar to test if the page loads correctly. If it shows a 404 error, you must address the issue on your website.

  7. Check for redirection errors: If you have set up any redirects for the URL, ensure they are functioning correctly and not causing the 404 error.

  8. Review Facebook's ad policies: Make sure your ad content complies with Facebook's advertising policies. Sometimes, non-compliant ads can be disapproved or restricted, resulting in errors.

  9. Contact Facebook Support: If you have tried all the above steps and the issue persists, contact Facebook Ads support for further assistance. Please provide them with specific details about the error you're encountering and any steps you've taken to resolve it.
