Purchase Event not working in Facebook Pixel

My pixel is set up correctly, and I can view it in the pixel helper when I'm on my website.

However - it is not firing for any conversions. I've done a couple test purchases and they don't show up in my pixel.

Also, when I'm viewing my checkout page, there is no "purchase" event listed in the pixel helper.

How can I get this working? It's tracking everything properly except conversions.

Hey there!

Aria here, one of the Social Care Gurus at Shopify. 🙂

Strangely, when you set up a Facebook Pixel, the purchase event is not set up by default. What you will need is a custom conversion.

This Facebook help page explains the steps you need to take in order to set up these custom events. You can create up to 100 custom events per ad account.

I hope this helps. 🙂

Hi Aria!

I've also tried to add my purchase pixel and it's not working properly. When I ran the initial set up, I created the purchase event as when someone clicks "complete purchase" through the checkout process, however, I didn't see that working and I since have deleted the event. Now, the event isn't working at all and I'm trying to figure out how to get it back up.

If I create a custom conversion, how would I do that if it has to be based on the URL? I can't find anything that shows that the confirmation URL would be on my account. Is it any URL that contains "thank you"? If so, am I then able to pull in the order value as well? Would love to hear your input.

Thank you,

Daniel

Daniel, you shouldn't have to create a custom conversion to track purchases through Shopify's standard FB pixel setup. Shopify will send a Purchase event. In most cases, you just enter your pixel ID in your online store settings. That's it.

Are you using any upsell apps or other apps that can change the checkout? These will interfere with the standard setup.

Hey Josh

I'm having a similar problem here, simply because Shopify's standard FB pixel setup isn't returning an accurate amount of conversion. Neither Purchases nor the "Initiate Checkout"-event are being reported back properly. We are not using any apps that could change the checkout.

What can we do?

Hey everyone,
You don't want to do anything else for setup purchase event on your store.
When you set up your Facebook pixel on your store, Shopify starts to send a purchase event automatically.
But you want to do one transaction or check out from your store, after complete payment within 2 to 4 minutes purchase event will show on your Facebook events manager and you can also check purchase event on a chrome extension.

Purchase events are coming over into the Facebook Pixel from our Shopify store, however the event parameters for value, content _ids, content_type, content_name, and content_category are not coming over for the Purchase Event. Those parameters are coming over for AddToCart and ViewContent events, however. The pixel was set up using Shopify's standard integration and nothing was customized. What step is being missed that these parameters aren't showing up for purchase events?

I would like to know the answer to this too!  It doesn't look as if anyone replied, did you happen to get any feedback on this?!

Hi All, i am having the same problem as well..

Recently I had 1 conversion event, but the event is not showing on my facebook ad manager..

So I did a purchase from my own store to test, very strangely, facebook recognize my own purchase as a conversion event!!

From the conversion summary, I can clearly see that my purchase a direct visit, while the 1st conversion event, was from facebook!!

Anyone has any idea what is going on??

Thanks
Glen
