Remove collections from google search

Hi, I'm trying to fix my google search results.  Currently, if I search for the title of my item on google the only results are to the collection its in and I would like to change it to show the direct link to the product.  I have removed all collections but when I look at the sitemap.xml it still shows collections in there.

You need to be careful removing any page from the Google index. But if you're adamant on not wanting collections, search "metafield" in my Shopify SEO guide to learn how to remove collections from search results. The same strategy can be applied to pages, which a lot of stores should have more of given they have pages indexed when they shouldn't be.

The first thing, remember that the collections you have already deleted will be removed permanently from your Shopify admin. Without deleting them, you can hide the collection from a sales channel (such as google search - your situation). This post will introduce you how to delete a collection on Shopify.

Have you tried changing your sitemap? It's pretty easy to figure out SEO on Shopify, so you can learn most things just by Googling.
