Replacing product images/changing file names - effect on SEO?

I'm currently preparing to replace multiple product images, and am changing their file names from "image1" type names to specific product file names. Will this have an effect on SEO, and if so, is it worth changing the file name or should I keep as is? Our site has been live for 3 years.

No effect on SEO but use the Image tag.
