Report -- orders received?

I would like to look back to last month or two and see how many orders were received per day. I assumed this a very basic report would be available but, after a lot of back and forth with support, it seems it is not. They are pointing me to third party apps that require monthly fees. 

I am aware I can export transactions within a certain period of time. However Shopify lists the same order number multiple times which makes it particularly hard to determine how many orders were received in a single day. 

I am also aware I can put in dates on the dashboard and it will tell me how many orders were received but the idea of doing that 30 times (or 60, 90, etc)  seems like an overly laborious task. 

I would welcome any solutions or suggestion you might have.
