SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hi,
I have a shopify plus account.
How can I revert one-page checkout back to 3-step checkout?
For the conversion report attached, will there be any change to the definition of 'Reached checkout' column between these 2 styles of checkouts?
Is my understanding correct?
With the one-page checkout follow, the system won't be able to get any user information until they finish the checkout(unless there are any payment errors). So I won't be able to get any user information to recover abandoned carts via emails?

This is an accepted solution.
We’ve been investigating every report about one-page checkout thoroughly and have not found any systemic issues. But we want you to be able to choose what’s best for your business. We are building an in-admin tool to let all merchants choose between one-page and three-page checkout. You can learn more about that decision here.
I am having the same issue. My sales are so terrible right now and I just don't see any other reason. My traffic is still the same. Just 1 sale today when I can get anywhere from 15-20 sales a day usually. I sell toys, so sales should be picking up not dropping off a cliff
On this day last year, I sold $500 and today just $20. Yesterday wasn't great either with just $175 in sales when last year on the same day it was $800. I can go hours or even half a day without a single sale. During primetime hours at that. Then I will receive 2-3 within an hour if I am lucky. Seems odd like checkout is not working sometimes and then it works in bursts because that is how my sales come in.
This is especially interesting as I doubled my ad spend for this entire year and the numbers have shown. As July was my biggest month ever, but now this month will more than likely come in at below last years total sales for October.
Currently I am running a sale which has resulted in add to carts and even checkout, but no conversions. My conversion rate used to be around 3% and now its down to 1% and teetering towards less than a percent. Supposedly a 37% decline compared to last month.
Why couldn't they release this OPC during the summer instead? That way if it ruined any of us, we had time to move websites to another provider before the busy shopping season starts.
It's also a little suspect that plus accounts have the option to go back to 3 page checkout. That means the ability is there, but Shopify says no to us.
I used to love shopify, but the first nail in the coffin was when they charged me for USPS label underpayments in July this year that they said I owed. Amounting to $800 to which they said I owed and wouldn't budge. Not until I opened a thread here did an army of people reply having the same fraudulent charges. To which shopify finally acknowledged there was an issue. Had we not banded together would our money have been gone?
That is exactly how I feel in regards to this OPC. They are saying that there is no issue just as before with the USPS charges.
I want to disable the one page checkout and go back to the classic 3 step checkout
I use sense theme.
Reason is that the old checkout works better for my store
Well isn't that fascinating that the shopify PLUS stores they FEATURE all use 3 page checkout.... and yet they keep saying on this thread "oh I don't see that your sales have fallen!" Guess what - they have! I don't need to show you stats - I should be able to toggle the switch and go back...like the PLUS stores can (but opt not to)
Count me as signed on this petition - PLEASE before we all have a horrible holiday season - GIVE US THE OPTION to run our business as we please....
Hey guys,
I wanted to see if we can get a thread going of screenshots of emails from customers complaining they can checkout. I'd like to send more data over to Tejas from Shopify so we can find where this ghost bug is.
Our customers have shared:
CC fields missing
Refresh Page Error
Is anyone else having these issues? Is your CVR down since OPC release?
Hello,
We have the same problem, 60% drop in conversion rate since the installation of the one page checkout.
Hello, same here concerning CVR down since OPC release.
Since its implementation, we've noticed a drastic, considerable and inexplicable drop in our conversion rate and therefore in our sales (-70%). Our retargeting partners have also been affected, and are no longer able to run effective campaigns for our website.
Since OPC release, we have more direct traffic, more organic traffic (SEO), more paid traffic, more social traffic but our conversion rate and sales have dropped by 70%. The only change was this 1page checkout implement.
Our conversion rate is down dramatically. We have not had complaints from customers byt something is definitely wrong. We need help fast. Dont know where to begin. This is costing us thousands.
Yes, we have had an increase in customers complaining about not being able to complete their payments, the page continually refreshing or just a general "unable to checkout" since we have switched to One Page Checkout
Hello,
Since the recent change to the one page checkout we no longer receive abandoned carts, prior to this we were getting quite a few to be able to try and recover. I have tested this multiple times on different devices, including both mobile and desktop, but since you enter your contact details and payment details on the same page it is not registering the abandoned cart.
I really like the concept of the one page checkout but is there any way to still get abandoned carts this way? I have checked all the settings etc and everything is turned on for marketing automations.
Thanks,
Oli
Wow, my thread with 4K+ views and 21 likes just got merged with this thread by Shopify that has way less views and engagement. Interesting.
55trexodore,
I just went to look at your thread and was directed here, I was wondering what happened.
That's really just another crappy move by Shopify to pretend this problem doesn't exist.
Shopify is fkin terrible, terminated my store for no reason, Legal Shopify emailed me 10 days ago asking me for:
Proof of address - Utility bill (e.g. water, electricity, or gas bill from the past 3 months), lease agreement (dated) or property insurance (dated)
* Proof of business association (i.e. business license, business registration documents (with company number) or business tax filing record).
* Proof of inventory (i.e. dated supplier invoices, dated manufacturing agreements)
* Social media links related to your business (if none, please explain how are you driving traffic to your store)
And after I've uploaded and answered all of that, they did NOT respond to me, in the meanwhile I'm getting s*it ton of Disputes because my customers can not go on my page (I can't even get the domain back). Also have other assets, files, customer data stuck in there that I can NOT access.
Still no response from shopify except "Nope." Asking us to submit evidence, stats, screenshots, et all is ridiculous. Let's waste even more time proving to Shopify we aren't making this up - when they can clearly see all our sales / conversions have tanked. Asking us to send screenshots to substantiate the drop off is like telling us to boil water....
What solutions do you have for us Shopify? Please respond to us.
So has anyone had an uplift in sales yet or is there still blood on the ground! We are still bleeding heavily - sales have never been worse and we are throwing everything we can at it. One page checkout seems to be a disaster for our store!
Hi Emma,
My sales are still terrible, it's so so disheartening. Also, the lack of response from Shopify - who when I go to their home page are touting a $1 per month intro fee - so surely the reps are busy helping people change button colors, rather than help us with this crisis.
They have no intention of giving us the 3 page checkout. Just like the didn't care less about removing our informative admin page in place of useless squiggles. We should have had a rollback option on that too. But at least I could deal with the inconvenience.
I would also like to know if any of the others here have seen any improvement on sales or completed checkouts.
This is an accepted solution.

Hi everyone,
Since my store has updated to a one-page checkout, my store has experienced a very low conversion rate.
You can check the attached file, from May to September, the conversion rate is higher than this October.
Please let me go back to the 3-page checkout.
I really appreciate it.
Thanks
Hi there,
Thanks for your reply but I don't see the section "Checkout settings". Is it because I use normal plan instead of shopify plus?
Did you get this fixed? My store is getting crushed.
