Sending Abandoned Cart mails to Non-Subscribers

Hi guys, I encountered this issue in my store where I'm unable to send abandoned checkout mails to non-subscribers while my others have this functionality. I tried to contact support several times but it didn't worked out. Can someone please point out what could be the possible issue.

Note: In my other stores, option of sending this mail to everyone option is showing under settings>checkout but in this store this section shifted to marketing automations section.

Hi, @LemonMedia. I'm happy to help you out with this! Since you're working on abandoned checkout emails I also wanted to share this blog post with abandoned checkout email examples you can use to help you design yours.

At the moment we have two different experiences for abandoned checkout emails. The first is the original method for recovering abandoned checkouts found in your Shopify admin under Settings > Checkout. The second is the new abandoned checkout automation, which is found in the Marketing section of your Shopify admin. We have more information on the original workflow here and more information on the new workflow here. It sounds like the store you're currently working with is using the new abandoned checkout automation while your other stores are still using the original method to recover abandoned checkouts.

With the new workflow, by default these emails will only be sent to customers who have opted in to receive email marketing. If you want abandoned checkout emails to be sent to all customers, regardless of marketing subscription status, you'll need to follow these steps when creating the automation.

  1. From the Shopify admin, click Marketing > Automations.
  2. Click Create automation.
  3. Select the Abandoned checkout automation template.
  4. Click Edit > Edit email.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. Beside To:, change your selection from Customers subscribed to email marketing to All customers.
  7. Make any other customizations or changes you need and click Save once you've made them.

If you've already set up your abandoned checkout automation, but didn't configure it to be sent to all customers, you can adjust this by editing the email. You can follow these steps to do this:

  1. Open the abandoned checkout automation you created.
  2. Click Edit workflow.
  3. Select the email action you want to edit (in this case it will be Send marketing email).
  4. Click View email.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. Beside To:, change your selection from Customers subscribed to email marketing to All customers.

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you're having any trouble with these steps!

Hi @Erin .

I tried your suggestion, but for me the To section is completely blocked and cannot be configured. Am I missing something to change this option?

You first have to edit the template first and then save it.

Ok I found the problem. You can only change the To section in abandoned checkout autonomation template but I am using abandoned cart template which is more powerful imo. But I managed to workaround the issue by creating an abandoned checkout template then configuring it into an abandoned cart one.

I just tried this - having previously set up an abandoned checkout automation, and on the second one that i'm customising for abandoned cart, the To field is locked down, and only allows customers subscribed to emails to be selected. Did anyone manage to get two flows working which sends to all potential customers?

I also wanted such an automation for abandoned browse - but i'm assuming that's too much to ask...

Can you tell me more on how to do this please? I'm running into the same issue of the setting to choose to send to all customers being blocked out

I am having this same issue but it seems like it is still locked when I use the abandoned checkout template. Anyone have a workaround?

Hi Sebastian,

I am trying to do the same thing, how did you configure it into an abandoned cart?

Hi everyone,

This is normal because when they make their cart, users have still not entered their email address, so there is no way to contact them.

Unless they have already ordered and are therefore "customers subscribed to emails😉

Hi,

"To" field for Abandoned cart template is not available for all customers (currently only available for Customers subscribed to email marketing only).

Change from marketing customers to all customers option works under Abandoned Checkout template but it does not work under Abandoned cart template. Could you please advise who can I fix this?
