SEO: HREFLANG implementation in themes

- CONTEXT: We are trying to inject HREFLANG in a Shopify product page template. Each product page needs different hreflang while a template has the same code for all product page therefore we cannot apply different hard coded hreflang on each page.

- SOLUTION: We are thinking to create a product METAFIELD with value including the HREFLANG needed. Its value will be different for each product and would be posted in the product page code.

- QUESTION: Does anyone already tried this? Any feedback? Thanks!
