SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hi, first for all i'm sorry for my bad english so i'm going to explain my problem easily, thank you for readding.
So, my problem is about my title description for my SEO. I've recently seen that my meta description is not like i've custom it in preferences of my store. My meta dexcription is quiet good, but in my title there is a te beginning my shop name with colon.
Example : "Shop name :" "Meta title"
I want to know how to change this, and have the title that i want and who correspond at my custom preferences.
Thank you. Have a nice day.
Hi Jean-Frédéric,
Nick here from Shopify.
Great question and your English is good too. You can change the meta description for all pages on a Shopify store whether it is a regularly created page such as the About Us page or a product page. To show you as an example of how to do this on an About Us page you need to scroll down the page to where it says Edit Website SEO.
Once you click Edit website SEO, it will enable you to change the page title, the meta description and the last aspect of the URL. You can see in the picture below where I changed the About Us to Brand Story in the title and the URL. I hope this helps and answers your question. If this might not be what you're looking for, don't hesitate to reply and let me know and we can take another look for you.
All the best, Nick

Having this problem also, no matter how times I change the product page SEO meta title, whether through the product page itself, through the bulk product edit feature or through an SEO app, the meta title on the page as is also shown on the browser tab (in full when hovered over) does not change.
I also have experienced similar with editing my seo description in my store.
But I also read (can't remember where) that Google will sometimes ignore your changes.
To check this out I found this site that will simulate seo title and meta descriptions.
I tested my pages in the site above, and they showed the changes I had made in Shopify Store seo edit. BUT even after submitting the pages to Google to re-crawl and waiting a week and then checking back to see that they had been crawled, they still didn't show the changes in Google.
Hi, and thanks for your return.
I've already custom my meta description, in store setting. Description matches with my own customisation. and the title is good for the text but, at the beginning there is my shop name and maybe i'm wrong but title and description of my website (SEO meta) can only be change in preferences's tab on online store. I send you two photos. One of when i search me website on internet and the opage where i've custom my meta.
Thank you.

Hi Jean-Frédéric,
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you on this.
I looked into it and double checked with our theme support team to see why this could be happening. They mentioned it could be something to do with the theme itself or maybe an SEO app if you have installed one.
The theme doesn't look like a Shopify one, would you be able to say what theme it is or if have used an SEO app and we can see what the best next step is after finding out this information.
But you are 100% right and something is definitely happening here. I can confirm with all Shopify created themes, the store name is removed. Let's hope it is one of the two scenarios above.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
All the best, Nick

Im having the same problem. Using the Brooklyn Theme, my search on google shows [Store name]: [Store SEO title...]. Why the colon?

I'm also experiencing this issue with the Prestige theme. Has this been solved yet?
