We have connected Google Ads, Tag Manager and Analytics together and all is working. The app in Shopify is a bit weird, I even added the scripts from the tag manager into the <header> and <body> but still shows as the products being disapproved.
Now, the main issue here is that we cannot set Conversion Trackings. We have set up a manual tag on Tag Manager but, of course, since Shopify checkout is highly strict we don't get to track anything that way. So we had a look around and since Custom Scripts have been deprecated we need to use Custom Events but there is not way of setting it, I have checked all settings on the Google App and nothing's there to toggle it Active.
I don't find info anywhere either, anyone has an idea how we can setup Custom Events correctly on Tag Manager?

Thanks for your query.
The google and youtube app is very good at tracking but sometimes it does not work properly .
as you mentioned you added GTM on shopify for conversion tracking. you can tag the page but can not track the purchase event without datalayer.
you can can revert additional script but its not permanent solution.
so you must go for customer event custom pixel.

Thank you for this, it does seem exactly what I need, but where is this code implemented, on the theme editor at Shopify? I believe we won't need Plus for this either, correct?
Do you know of any tutorial on how to set this up? Shopify used to make things quite straight forward and loads of guidance, it doesn't seem to be the case with custom events, unless I'm missing something, which is quite possible.

I am talking about the alternative method of this App to track conversions via Google Tag Manager.
sometimes this app stops working for Google ads. So the experts recommend this manual process. because GTM is free of cost and lifetime setup.
The datalayer code can be implemented in the checkout additional script and customer event custom pixel.
additional script page shows the purchase in debug view but custom pixel datalayer code push the event in the console.
No, you don't need Shopify plus plan.
I do set up by myself. AS Our team developed this purchase event data layer. it's not an open resource.
