SEO, AdWords, affiliates, advertising, and promotions
Hello there,
We have a Shopify client which has set primary domain to .com.au. But all the Shopify store URLs and the URLs in the sitemap xml file are .com URLs only.
The .com.au URLs are redirecting to .com domain only.
In this case will Google crawl and index .com URLs or .com.au URLs? As Shopify sitemap.xml is having .com URLs, can we just submit the same sitemap or we need to submit sitemap with.com.au URLs?
Thanks in advance

Hello @user072319,
In this case, submitting a sitemap for com.au won't help as specified Shopify store's URLs would still be .com anyway, and even if had com.au URLs they are non-canonical(duplicate pages), and not the primary domain.
You have to set .com.au as the primary domain so that all the URLs in the sitemap will then point to .com.au, and .com.au will become the primary domain.
Hope this helps,
