Shopify Email Automations - Upsell single product

I thought this would be a really simple automation to set up but appears not so!

 

I simply want to set up a Shopify Email automation that only emails customers who have bought product 'A' it then waits 10 days then emails and says 'Hey customer, do you want to buy another Product 'A' for a special price?'

 

Really simple workflow I thought, basically a variation of first purchase upsell but focuses on a single product.

 

Any ideas?

Just spoken with Shopify Support. Apparently this isn't possible. I've had it logged as a feature request. Seems crazy that such a simple automation isn't available! Third party apps only at the moment.

Yes, you can set up a Shopify Email automation that specifically targets customers who have purchased product 'A' and offers them a special price for purchasing the same product again. Here's how you can do it:

Thanks, but I cannot see where to add the "Product purchased" trigger?

 

Everything else makes sense but how do I add the product?

Hi @MSW76 

You can set up this automation using Shopify's built-in email marketing tool. Here are the steps you can follow:

  1. Go to your Shopify admin and click on "Marketing" in the left-hand menu, then select "Automations".

  2. Click "Create an automation" and select "Customer winback" as your automation type.

  3. Under "Trigger", select "Customer has purchased specific products" and choose product 'A' from the dropdown.

  4. Under "Delay", choose "Wait 10 days".

  5. Under "Email", choose "Send an email" and create your email that offers the special price for another purchase of product 'A'.

  6. Preview your email and save your automation.

That's it! Your automation will now send an email to customers who have purchased product 'A' 10 days after their purchase, offering them a special price for another purchase of the same product. Make sure to test the automation thoroughly to ensure it's working correctly.

Nope! Sorry, there is no 'Customer has purchased specific products' option as a trigger. Maybe there was, but it's not called that now and theres nothing else that would be relevant. Attached is a screenshot of triggers available. Ignore the 'Get More Triggers' these are all third party apps which I'm not interested in.

I would go for a "simpler" solution.

Just do a check for a defined amount bought(so the price of your Product A and if that is bought means the customer purchased that item.

 

Based on such check then you can send an upsell email after X days.

 

If product A has similar price as other make it different slightly so it can be unique for the condition to not make mistake.

 

Just note that after the order is fullfilled in this way, I mean after some days, if the customer repurchase it will be another order.

 

IMHO I would go for an upsell in the same order, make your business save money on shipment and the customer as well.
