I have sent several emails with Shopify email campaigns and never had a problem until tonight. I am not able to finish creating an email because I get an error saying that i need to "add a Link URL" . I tried for 30  minutes and can not find what link is needed or where to put it. Screenshot 2024-12-26 at 9.55.38 PM.png

Hello @Tarheelbook,

It sounds frustrating to encounter this issue, especially after 30 minutes of trying. To fix the "Add a Link URL" error, you should double-check your email template. Here are some steps that might help: WhataburgerVisit com

  1. Edit Email Content: Go to Marketing > Campaigns. Click on the specific email campaign you're working on and select "Edit Email Content."

  2. Review Link Placement: Ensure every button or link within the highlighted sections has a URL specified. These URLs need to be properly formatted (e.g., starting with https://).

  3. Test Links: Send yourself a test email to see if the links work correctly. Sometimes, Shopify may require all links to be active.

Has anyone else faced this issue and found an additional solution?

Have you encountered this particular issue before? Otherwise, do you have any other questions or need further assistance with this issue?

Best Regards,

To fix the "Add a Link URL" error in Shopify email campaigns:

  1. Check Buttons: Ensure all buttons have valid URLs (e.g., https://yourstore.com).
  2. Inspect Images: If clickable, images need valid links too.
  3. Verify Hyperlinked Text: Highlight text and ensure links are valid or removed if not needed.
  4. Remove Placeholders: Delete or replace any # or empty link fields.
  5. Preview Email: Save changes and preview to ensure all links are valid.

This should resolve the issue!

Hi @Tarheelbook

Shopify requires all hyperlinks in your email content to have a valid URL. This includes text links, buttons, or images. The error you're seeing suggests something in your email content is missing a link, even if it's not immediately obvious.

Here’s what I think could help with your issue:

Check Common Link Areas

Here’s where to look:

  • Call-to-action buttons: Double-check all buttons like “Shop Now” or “Learn More.”
  • Images: If you’ve inserted an image, Shopify might expect you to link it to a page.
  • Plain text links: Make sure any phrases like “Click here” have a complete URL attached.

To fix it, click the specific section in the email editor where the error occurs, and see if there’s an option to add or edit a URL.

Use a Placeholder URL (If Needed)

If you’re unsure what link to use, you can insert something like https://yourstore.com as a temporary placeholder. This should let you proceed with the campaign.

Save and Preview

Always preview your email before sending. Look at the clickable elements to ensure they’re all functional and direct users to the right place.

Still Stuck?

If nothing seems to work, try clearing your browser cache or switching to another browser. It might also be worth reaching out to Shopify Support if the error persists, as it could be a temporary glitch.

I hope these steps help you troubleshoot quickly!

Best regards,
Daisy
