Shopify + Mailchimp - Welcome Message and Automations not working

I am using the parallax theme for Shopify and have Mailchimp integrated in Shopify (app)

All customers who sign up using the pop-up or footer signup for my newsletter are getting imported into my MailChimp list.

However, none of these subscribers is receiving the double sign in email, the welcome email or any automation set up for new subscribers.

How do I fix this issue?
