Shopify SEO Title & Description Not Updating

Hello, I have a graphic t-shirt website and I've noticed numerous inconsistencies regarding my SEO and what pops up when I search for my website on Google. I understand that every Google experience is different (based on location, etc.), but I have changed my search engine listing for multiple collections and the title will STILL not change to what I want it to display. Is there something incorrect within my sitemap? Not really too sure how to get this problem figured out. I attached some images below of what I edited the SEO to be and what it appears as on Google.

Hi Teemania,

I hope you have set up your Google Search Console account.

Google takes time to crawl any changes you make to your SEO title/description. If specific pages have been updated significantly (like titles and meta descriptions), you can request a re-index via Google Search Console. This can be done by using the URL Inspection tool to inspect the URL and then requesting indexing (this can take up to a week or two, but quicker in most cases).

Also, consider checking for crawl errors on search console. Check the "coverage" report, and see if Google has any issues accessing parts of your website. The same report will show also show you if any page(s) is being excluded from indexing.

If these solutions fail, then you can check your sitemap and resubmit if need be,

  1. Verify Your Sitemap in Shopify: Shopify automatically generates a sitemap for your store, which lists all your products, product images, pages, collections, and blog posts. You can find your sitemap at yourstore.com/sitemap.xml. Verify that this link works and that the sitemap is up-to-date with all the pages you want indexed.

  2. Submit or Resubmit Your Sitemap in Google Search Console:

    • Log into Google Search Console.
    • Add and verify your Shopify store if you haven't already.
    • Submit your sitemap URL (yourstore.com/sitemap.xml). This action encourages Google to crawl your updated pages.

Hope this helps!

Hi there,

Google usually takes a bit of time to crawl any changes you’ve made to your SEO title or description. If you’ve made significant updates to specific pages (like titles and meta descriptions), you can request a re-index through Google Search Console. Use the URL Inspection tool to check out the URL and then request indexing (though this might take up to a week or two, it’s usually quicker).

Also, it’s a good idea to look for crawl errors on Search Console. Check out the "coverage" report to see if Google has encountered any issues accessing parts of your website. This report will also let you know if any page(s) are being excluded from indexing.

If these steps don’t fix things, you can check your sitemap and resubmit it if necessary.

Verify Your Sitemap in Shopify: Shopify automatically creates a sitemap for your store that lists all your products, product images, pages, collections, and blog posts. You can find your sitemap at yourstore.com/sitemap.xml. Make sure this link works and that the sitemap is up-to-date with all the pages you want indexed.

Submit or Resubmit Your Sitemap in Google Search Console:

  1. Log into Google Search Console.
  2. Add and verify your Shopify store if you haven't already.
  3. Submit your sitemap URL (yourstore.com/sitemap.xml). This action prompts Google to crawl your updated pages.

I hope this info is useful.
